The Sesia (Latin Sesites or Sessites) is a river in Piedmont, north-western Italy, tributary to the Po.

Geography

Its sources are the glaciers of Monte Rosa at the border with Switzerland. It flows through the Alpine valley Valsesia and the towns Varallo Sesia, Quarona, Borgosesia and Vercelli. The Sesia flows into the Po River near Casale Monferrato.

Sport and leisure

It is a popular river for kayaking and hosted the European championship in 2001 and the world championship in 2002. [3]

Soana (river)

The Soana is a small 24-kilometre (15 mi) torrent of the Province of Turin, Piedmont in north-west Italy, draining a basin of some 214 square kilometres (83 sq mi). Its headwaters are above Pianprato, in Valprato Soana, where a number of smaller torrents converge. It is the principal tributary of the Orco, which it joins at Pont Canavese.

Malone (river)

Malone is a 48-kilometre (30 mi) long stream of the Metropolitan City of Turin in Piedmont, north-western Italy. It is a left side tributary of the river Po which flows through the Canavese.

Chisone

The Chisone is a 53-kilometre (33 mi) Italian torrent, which runs through Pragelato, Fenestrelle, Perosa Argentina and Pinerolo in the Metropolitan City of Turin. It is a tributary of the Pellice, which in turn is a tributary of the river Po. Although classified as a torrent, there is no period of the year at which the Chisone runs dry.

Cenischia

The Cenischia is a mountain torrent which straddles the south-west French department of Savoie and the north-west Italian Metropolitan City of Turin, in Piedmont. Part of the Po basin, it is a left tributary of the Dora Riparia and forms the valley called the Val Cenischia which marks the boundary between the Graian Alps to the north and the Cottian Alps to the south.

Versa (Tanaro)

The Versa, a left tributary of the Tanaro, is a 35-kilometre (22 mi) torrent in the Province of Asti in north-west Italy. It is the river of the valley called Valle Versa. In 1836 the Versa was identified, along with the Rotaldo, the Grana, the Stura and the Gattola, as one of the five torrents of the still extant Province of Casale.

Grue (river)

The Grue is a torrent in north-west Italy, a right tributary of the Scrivia, whose 32-kilometre (20 mi) course lies entirely within the Province of Alessandria, Piedmont.

Erro (river)

The Erro is a 46-kilometre (29 mi) torrent of north-west Italy, a right tributary of the Bormida.

Tinella

The Tinella, the principal tributary of the Belbo, is a minor stream of Piedmont in northwestern Italy whose course falls entirely within the Province of Cuneo.
