He was appointed Naib Imam of Jama Masjid on 22 November 2014 and is next in line to succeed his father. The dastarbandi ceremony took place in Jama Masjid. [6] On the occasion of Shab-e-Barat,25 February 2024 he succeeded his father to be the 14th Shahi Imam,and will do imamat in absence of his father. [7]
While pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Amity University,Shaban married a Hindu girl from Ghaziabad with whom he was in a relationship for couple of years. It was reported that she had agreed to convert to Islam and was also learning Quran. [8] [9]
Born in Delhi,India,on 11 March 1995,Syed Shaban Bukhari hails from the family of Islamic theologists who have since their past thirteen generations presided over the Grand Mosque “Jama Masjid”,Delhi,India,built in the year 1656 by the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan who gave the world the wonderful Taj Mahal. The same Emperor Shahjahan appointed Syed Abdul Ghafoor Shah Bukhari,who was the great grandfather of Syed Shaban Bukhari,as the First Imam of Jama Masjid Delhi and decreed that the Imamat shall continue in the same family.
Keeping the tradition,in the year 2014,Syed Shaban Bukhari was appointed as the Vice (Naib) Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid,Delhi,India,by his father,the Thirteenth Shahi Imam,Maulana Syed Ahmed Bukhari.

Syed Kalbe Abid Naqvi was a mujtahid from Lucknow,India who preached Shia Islam. His father was Syed Kalbe Hussain and grandfather was Syed Hasan Naqvi Aqa Hasan. He was an elder brother of Dr. Kalbe Sadiq,a Padma Bhushan-awarded scholar. His son,Syed Kalbe Jawad is also a scholar and the chief of the Shia population in Lucknow,India. He died in 1986 after being involved in a car crash while on his way to read a majlis. His funeral prayer was also performed at Teele Wali Masjid in the Imamat of Former Shahi Imam of Teele Wali Masjid Maulana Syed Shah Fazlur Rahman Waizi. His final 10 set of Majlises which he read in Imambara Ghufran Ma'ab in 1986 has been entitled "Majlis-e-Azeem".

The Jaunpur Sultanate was a late medieval Indian Muslim state which ruled over much of what is now the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar between 1394 and 1494. It was founded in 1394 by Khwajah-i-Jahan Malik Sarwar,an eunuch slave and former wazir of Sultan Nasiruddin Muhammad Shah IV Tughluq,amidst the disintegration of the Delhi Sultanate's Tughlaq dynasty. Centred in Jaunpur,the Sultanate extended authority over a large part of the Ganges-Yamuna Doab. It reached its greatest height under the rule of Sultan Ibrahim Shah,who also vastly contributed to the development of Islamic education in the Sultanate. In 1494,Sultan Hussain Khan was defeated by the forces of the Afghan ruler Bahlul Lodi,Sultan of the Lodi dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate at Benares at which point Hussain fled to Kahalgaon in modern-day Bihar where the Sultan of Bengal assigned him a pargana. Here he was allowed to mint his own coins and was promised help from Bengal in recovering his kingdom. He died in 1505.
The Ilyas Shahi dynasty was the first independent dynasty to set the foundations of the late medieval Sunni Muslim Sultanate of Bengal of Turk origin.
