Shahzad Ali Malik is a former President of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In 2013, he received the prestigious Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) Award by the President of Pakistan, the third-highest decoration given to any civilian in Pakistan, in recognition of his research work in the field of hybrid rice technology [1] [2] for higher and better rice yields in Pakistan. The Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) was established in 1988–89 under the patronage of the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, and the Planning Division of the Government of Pakistan. REAP played a significant role in defining rice standards in Pakistan. Consequently, Pakistan Rice Standards were established in 1992 for the first time, with support of the Pakistan Standards Institution.

Rashid Ali Malik was President and Chief Executive Officer of a leading security company named Security 2000, headquartered in Karachi, Pakistan. He served in the Pakistan Army for 32 years, participated in two wars and for eminent service received 17 medals for war and peace-time service, 2 Commendations from the Chief of Army Staff and the Army Chief Gold Medal.
