Shakila Sharma (known as Shakila Zafar; born 28 February 1962) is a Bangladeshi singer. [2] Zafar's career began as a result of her appearance in the 1983 BTV program Jodi Kichu Mone Na Koren where she performed an astrology themed song "Tula Rashir Meye". [3]
Zafar was born in Karachi, Pakistan. She grew up in Pakistan with her family. Her family belongs to Sirajganj District, Bangladesh.[ citation needed ] Her father was a government employee of Pakistan. He was assigned to the Industrial Development Bank of Pakistan. In 1970, Shakila came to Bangladesh and was admitted in the Willes Little Flower School. She followed this with graduation from Dhaka University, in philosophy.[ citation needed ]
Zafar's fifteenth album, [4] Labonye Purno Pran, was her first solo album of Rabindra Sangeet. It contains ten songs selected and arranged by Tagore song exponent Chanchal Khan. It was recorded in Kolkata and released on the G-Series label in April 2011. [5]
Shakila first married Manna Zafar. She took the surname "Zafar" to her name after marriage. Together they have a son, Mufrad Zafar. Mufrad is engaged to singer Sanzida Mahmood Nandita since 2024. [6] The couple later got divorced. In December 2015, Shakila married Ravi Sharma, an Indian poet and engineer, who is a former CEO of Adani Power and was also CEO-South Asia at Alcatel-Lucent. [7] She then took the surname Sharma. [1]

Runa Laila is a Bangladeshi playback singer and composer. She started her career in the Pakistani film industry in the late 1960s. Her style of singing is inspired by Pakistani playback singer Ahmed Rushdi and also frequently joined him for singing duets, after replacing another singer Mala. Her playback singing in films – The Rain (1976), Jadur Banshi (1977), Accident (1989), Ontore Ontore (1994), Devdas (2013) and Priya Tumi Shukhi Hou (2014) - earned her seven Bangladesh National Film Awards for Best Female Playback Singer. She won the Best Music Composer award for the film Ekti Cinemar Golpo (2018).

Gunday (transl. Outlaws) is a 2014 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Aditya Chopra. The film features Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor. Set in 1971–1988 Calcutta, Gunday is a story about two best friends and outlaws, who fall in love with a cabaret dancer, which causes rivalry and misunderstandings between them while a police officer tries to take advantage of this situation to eliminate them.

The 34th National Film Awards, presented by Ministry of Information, Bangladesh to felicitate the best of Bangladeshi Cinema released in the year 2009. The government announced the names of 28 artistes in 26 categories for the National Film Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the country's film industry. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave away the awards to the artistes. From this year, Government decided to give lifetime achievement award and Sultana Zaman was the first recipient of the award.
