Shalini Shah (b May 17) is a National Film Award-winning filmmaker; [1] a film faculty member at Kumaun University; and the artistic-director/co-founder of the Kautik International Film Festival, [2] [3] [4] Nainital, Uttrakhand.
Recipient of the National Film Award for Best Historical Reconstruction/Compilation Film for her film 'From the land of Buddhism to the Land of Buddha'. Citation: For its realistic and pictorial depiction of the culture, traditions and socio-economic conditions of the Tibetans settled in India.

She served as the President of BJP Mahila Morcha in West Bengal. She served as the General Secretary and the Vice President for the West Bengal Motion Picture Artistes' Forum, a body representing cine artistes.

Daasi is a 1988 Indian Telugu-language drama film written and directed by B. Narsing Rao starring Archana as Daasi Kamalakshi. The film won five honors including Best Feature Film in Telugu at the 36th National Film Awards, "For portraying the grim reality of a feaudal milieu through original and rare use of film language" as cited by the Jury, and the Diploma of Merit award at the 16th Moscow International Film Festival in 1989. The film was subsequently screened in the Indian Panorama at the 12th International Film Festival of India.

Shashilal K. Nair is an Indian film director and producer. He began his career as an assistant in films like Shankarbharanam, Sargam, and Kaam Chor. He made his directorial debut with the film Bahu Ki Awaaz in 1985. which was described by the Directorate of Film Festival as a "strong comment on bride burning and dowry", and since then has directed eight motion pictures, which include Karamdaata (1986), Parivaar (1987), Angaar (1992), One 2 Ka 4 and Ek Chhotisi Love Story (2002). For his special effects in Angaar, he received the National Film Award for Best Special Effects, for "his absolutely convincing miniature work in the film".
Matti Manushulu is a 1990 Indian Telugu-language drama film written and directed by B. Narsing Rao starring Archana. The film won the Best Feature Film in Telugu at the 38th National Film Awards, "For portraying the stark reality of pain which has been underlined with the warm hues of life" as cited by the Jury.
Maa Ooru is a 1987 Indian Telugu-language anthropological film written and directed by B. Narsing Rao. The film won the Best Ethnographic Film at the 36th National Film Awards "For recalling with nostalgia the life of a village community of the fifties in Telangana and does so with sensitivity and a graphic lyricism", as cited by the Jury.
Janani is a 1993 Bengali film directed and produced by Sanat Dasgupta with a financial assistance from National Film Development Corporation of India. The film narrates the life of a little boy and his ostracized mother who is isolated from him as she is believed to be a witch in the village she lives in. It is based on a Bengali short story named Baen written by the renowned Bengali author Mahasweta Devi. It was scripted by Partha Banerjee, Ashutosh Sarkar and Sanat Dasgupta himself. The music of the film was scored by Partha Sengupta. It stars Roopa Ganguly in the central role.

The 3rd International Film Festival of India was held from 8 to 21 January 1965 in New Delhi. The third edition was the first competitive film festival ever held in India inaugurated by the then President of India Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The festival Chaired by Satyajit Ray for the first time was graded ‘A’ category by the Paris - based Federation International de Producers de Films. With this recognition the festival in India came on par with Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Karlovy Vary and Moscow International film festivals.
The 11th International Film Festival of India was held from 10-24 January 1987 in New Delhi. The festival gave a breakthrough for commercial cinema, through the introduction of "Indian Mainstream section". India's official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film for the Academy Awards in 1986 - "Swati Mutyam" was screened in the mainstream section.

The 35th International Film Festival of India was held from November 29 - December 9 2004 in Goa. The edition is the first globally competitive edition with a permanent venue at Goa. The "Beach Screening" section of Hollywood blockbusters was instituted for the first time at this edition.
The 36th International Film Festival of India was held from November 24 to December 4, 2005 in Goa. The edition is focused on French cinema. Veteran actors Dev Anand and Chiranjeevi inaugurated the edition. The 36th edition was for the first time executed by Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The jury consisted of Latin American filmmaker Miguel Littin, French Director Alain Corneau, filmmaker Saeed Mirza, Iranian actor-director Faramarz Gharibian and Austrian filmmaker Sabine Derflinger.
The 37th International Film Festival of India was held from November 23 – December 3 2006 in Goa. The jury, headed by Australian director Rolf de Heer, consisted of French director Olivier Assayas, Polish actress Grażyna Szapołowska, Argentinian actress Leticia Bredice and India's Jahnu Barua.
The 38th International Film Festival of India was held from November 23 - December 3 2007 in Goa. Hungarian cinema was the "Country Focus" in this edition. Filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta was the chief guest for this edition.
Kautik International Student Film Festival is a 10-day competitive international student film festival, organised by CEFM-the Hermitage, Kumaun University, Nainital, Uttarakhand, in association with the Himalayan Society for Art, Culture, Education, Environment and Film Development (HIMACEEF) promoted by filmmakers/academicians Rajesh Shah and National Award winning documentary filmmaker Shalini Shah. The duo are film faculty members at the University. The festival is attended by students, theatre artistes, cinematographers, filmmakers and ministers.
