Shalom Brune-Franklin (born 18 August 1994) is an English-born Australian [1] actress known for playing Private Maisie Richards in the BBC series Our Girl , Umm Khulthum in The State , Ella in Love Me and Aoife in the Australian series Doctor Doctor and in The Tourist . [2]
She starred as DC Chloe Bishop in all seven episodes of BBC One's Line of Duty, series six (2021) and played one of the lead roles in The Tourist on BBC One (2022). [3]
Shalom Brune-Franklin was born in St Albans in England to a Mauritian mother and Thai-born English father. [4] When Brune-Franklin was 14, she moved with her parents and her younger brother, Siam, to Mullaloo, Western Australia. [4] [5] She holds both British and Australian citizenship. [1]
During her studies at Ocean Reef Senior High School, Brune-Franklin took up drama, and then won the school's drama award for high achievement. [6] Brune-Franklin enrolled to study journalism at the Edith Cowan University, but after seeing the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), she decided on an acting career. Brune-Franklin auditioned at the WAAPA and then later that year was the most outstanding student. [6]

The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) at Edith Cowan University (ECU) was established in 1980 to provide performing arts tuition. WAAPA operates as a part of ECU, located at the ECU campus in Mount Lawley, a suburb in Perth, Western Australia.

Our Girl is a British television military drama series, written and created by Tony Grounds, first broadcast on BBC One on 24 March 2013. The series initially starred Lacey Turner as Molly Dawes, a young working-class woman, who joins the British Army after deciding her life is going down the drain. Following the feature-length pilot episode, a full series of five episodes was commissioned, commencing broadcast on 21 September 2014.

Doctor Doctor is an Australian television drama created by Tony McNamara, Ian Collie and Alan Harris, which premiered on the Nine Network on 14 September 2016, lasting five seasons, concluding on 23 June 2021. The cast includes Rodger Corser, Nicole da Silva, Ryan Johnson, Tina Bursill, Hayley McElhinney and Steve Bisley, and follows the story of Hugh Knight, a rising heart surgeon who is gifted, charming and infallible.
