Shane Richardson Reeves [1] is a United States Army brigadier general serving as the 15th Dean of the United States Military Academy.
Reeves graduated from the West Point in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree and was commissioned as an armor officer. [2] Upon graduation he served for four years at the Fort Irwin National Training Center in various positions. He subsequently became a part of the Judge Advocate General's Corps after graduating from law school at William &Mary in 2003. Later,Reeves served in numerous legal positions with the 1st Infantry Division,1st Armored Division,The Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School,and Joint Special Operations Command. [3] He also completed a Master of Laws degree in military justice at The Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School in 2008. [4] [5]
Since 2011,Reeves taught in United States Military Academy’s Law Department. Where in 2015 he became deputy department head,and later department head in 2020. In this capacity Reeves also a founded and was the inaugural and director of the Lieber Institute for Law and Land Warfare. On May 28,2021,Reeves succeeded Cindy Jebb as the Dean. [6]
Reeves is married and has three children. He is admitted to practice law before the Virginia State Bar,the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces,and the United States Supreme Court. [4]
The United States Military Academy is a United States service academy in West Point, New York. It was originally established as a fort during the American Revolutionary War, as it sits on strategic high ground overlooking the Hudson River 50 miles (80 km) north of New York City. The academy was founded in 1802, and it is the oldest of the five American service academies and educates cadets for commissioning into the United States Army. The Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC) is a two-phased training course designed to commission officers and prepare them for service in the United States Army. Prospective officers complete Phase I as either a cadet or an officer candidate before continuing on to BOLC B as Second Lieutenants. If BOLC B is not completed within two years of commissioning, 2LTs will be administratively separated from the service unless there are extenuating circumstances. This a progressive model designed to produce US Army officers with leadership skills, small unit tactics and certain branch-specific capabilities.
The Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School, also known as The JAG School or TJAGLCS, is a graduate-level division federal service academy located on the grounds of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. The center is accredited by the American Bar Association to award the Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Military Law. The center educates military, civilian, and international personnel in legal and leadership skills. The LL.M. curriculum includes courses in Administrative and Civil Law, Contract and Fiscal Law, Criminal Law, and National Security Law. The school serves primarily as the U.S. Army's law school for the Officer Basic Course (OBC) for initial-entry Judge Advocates, and as the graduate program for Judge Advocates of all services branches. It is the only ABA-accredited law school that only awards an LL.M. and not a Juris Doctor degree.

She has served as the associate dean for academic affairs at the George Washington University Law School since 2009. In March 2010, Schenck was appointed as a professorial lecturer in law, and teaches military justice. Bruce Edward Kasold is an American lawyer and former judge. He was appointed as a judge to the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims by President George W. Bush in December 2003. He served as the chief judge of the Court from August 2010 to August 2015. Kasold is a graduate of Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School in Riverhead, New York. He earned his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1973, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Law School in 1979. Kasold also earned a Master of Laws from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1982 and a Master of Laws equivalent from the Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School in 1984.
