Shannon Falcone

Shannon Falcone is a sailor who has competed in multiple America's Cups and Volvo Ocean Races.

Born in England in 1981, Falcone moved to Antigua with his family at the age of 3. [1] He was educated at Clayesmore School. [2]

Falcone originally sailed Stars with his father, Olympian Carlo Falcone, and they competed at the 1998, 1999 and 2000 Star World Championships. [3] [4]

Falcone sailed with Mascalzone Latino at the 2003 Louis Vuitton Cup and Luna Rossa Challenge at the 2007 Louis Vuitton Cup. [5] He then joined Oracle Racing in 2008. [6] [7]

Falcone sailed on Il Mostro during the 2008–09 Volvo Ocean Race and on Mar Mostro during the 2011–12 Volvo Ocean Race. [8] [9] [10]

He sailed on Oracle Team USA 17 during the 2013 America's Cup, [11] where he sailed in all 19 races, [12] before re-joining Luna Rossa. [1] [13]

The 2017 America's Cup was the 35th staging of the America's Cup yacht race. The challenger, Emirates Team New Zealand, won by a score of 7 to 1 over the defender, Oracle Team USA. It was held on the Great Sound in Bermuda from June 17 to June 26. The races were conducted using hydrofoiling AC50 America's Cup Class yachts, which are slightly larger than the AC45F yachts used in the 2015–16 America's Cup World Series.

The 2017 Louis Vuitton Challenger's Trophy was a sailing competition held to determine the challenger in the 2017 America's Cup.
