Sharada Puryanaik

Sharada Puryanaik (born November 22, 1971) is an Indian politician from Karnataka and a member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly, currently serving as an MLA. [1] She won the 2023 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election representing Shimoga Rural constituency. She won on a Janata Dal (Secular) ticket. She defeated K. B. Ashok Naik of BJP by 15,142 votes. [2] [3] [4] In 2018, she lost the election by a narrow margin of 3777. [5] Previously, she won the 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election representing Shimoga Rural with a margin of 10109 votes from Janata Dal (Secular). [6] [7]

In July 2023, she was elected as the deputy legislature party leader JD (S) in the house with H. D. Kumaraswamy being the Legislature party leader. This is the first time JD(S) party elected a woman to this post. [8]
