Manukau City was a territorial authority district in Auckland,New Zealand,that was governed by the Manukau City Council. The area is sometimes referred to as "South Auckland",although this term never possessed official recognition and does not encompass areas such as East Auckland,which was within the city boundary. It was a relatively young city,both in terms of legal status and large-scale settlement –though in June 2010,it was the third largest in New Zealand,and the fastest growing. In the same year,the entire Auckland Region was amalgamated under a single city authority,Auckland Council.
Territorial authorities are the second tier of local government in New Zealand,below regional councils. There are 67 territorial authorities:13 city councils,53 district councils and the Chatham Islands Council. District councils serve a combination of rural and urban communities,while city councils administer the larger urban areas. Five territorial authorities also perform the functions of a regional council and thus are unitary authorities. The Chatham Islands Council is a sui generis territorial authority that is similar to a unitary authority.

John Henry Tamihere is a New Zealand politician,media personality,and political commentator. He was member of Parliament from 1999 to 2005,including serving as a Cabinet minister in the Labour Party from August 2002 to November 2004. Tamihere ran unsuccessfully for Auckland mayor in the 2019 election. He joined the Māori Party in 2020 and from April to October 2020 was the party's co-leader. He became president of the Māori Party in June 2022.
The Eastern Transport Corridor in Auckland,New Zealand,is a transport reserve along a strip of land and water some of which is occupied by housing,commerce,industry and local roads. It runs adjacent to the North Island Main Trunk freight and passenger railway line.

Pakuranga is an eastern suburb of Auckland,in northern New Zealand. East Auckland is one of the major geographical regions of Auckland,the largest city in New Zealand. Settled in the 14th century,the area is part of the traditional lands of Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki. The area was developed into farmland in the 1840s,and the town of Howick was established as a defensive outpost by fencibles to protect Auckland. Coastal holiday communities developed in the area from the 1910s,and from the 1950s underwent major redevelopment into a suburban area of greater Auckland. From the 1980s,the area saw significant Asian New Zealander migrant communities develop.
Communities and Residents (C&R) is a right-leaning local body ticket in Auckland,New Zealand. It was formed in 1938 as Citizens &Ratepayers,with a view to controlling the Auckland City Council and preventing left-leaning Labour Party control. It controlled the council most of the time from World War II until the council was merged into the Auckland Council in 2010. It changed its name from "Citizens &Ratepayers" to "Communities and Residents" in 2012.
Conifer Grove is an upper-middle class suburb of Auckland,in northern New Zealand. Located on the eastern shores of the Pahurehure Inlet,on the Manukau Harbour,under authority of the Auckland Council. The suburb makes up the western side of the Takanini urban area and is in the Manurewa-Papakura ward of Auckland City. The suburb is known for its tree-lined streets,bay views,and until 2018 its border with the Manukau Golf Course. It includes the recent Waiata Shores subdivision developed by Fletcher Living.
George Sydney Wood is a former mayor of North Shore City and a former Auckland Councillor. He was the only North Shore City mayor to be elected for three terms and later represented North Shore ward on the Auckland Council between 2010 and 2016. He is now the Deputy Chair of the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board.
Public transport in Auckland,the largest metropolitan area of New Zealand,consists of three modes:bus,train and ferry. Services are coordinated by Auckland Transport under the AT Metro brand. Waitematārailway station is the main transport hub.
Leonard Charles Brown is a former mayor of Auckland,New Zealand,and former head of the Auckland Council. He won the 2010 Auckland mayoral election on 9 October 2010 and was sworn in as Mayor of Auckland on 1 November 2010,being the first to hold that title for the amalgamated Auckland "Super City",and was re-elected in 2013. Brown had previously been elected mayor of Manukau City in October 2007,the second time he ran for that office. Brown is married to Shirley Anne "Shan" Inglis,and has three daughters. As Mayor of Auckland,Brown was a vocal advocate for the City Rail Link and helped pass the city's first Unitary Plan.
Howick Ward is an Auckland Council ward which elects two councillors and covers the Howick Local Board. Sharon Stewart and Maurice Williamson are the current councillors.
The 2019 Auckland local elections took place between September and October 2019 by postal vote as part of nation-wide local elections. The elections were the fourth since the merger of seven councils into the Auckland Council,which is composed of the mayor and 20 councillors,and 149 members of 21 local boards. Twenty-one district health board members and 41 licensing trust members were also elected.

Paul Young is a New Zealand politician who was an Auckland Councillor and a board member of the Counties Manukau District Health Board.
