Sharon Vennard (born 16 September 1961) is a British competitive archer who competed at the 2012 Summer Paralympics.
Vennard was born in Exmouth, Devon, England and now lives in Newtownards, County Down, Northern Ireland. [1] She has osteoarthritis in her spine, causing her constant pain, [2] [3] and fibromyalgia which has resulted in her having mobility and balance problems. [4] She has a BTEC qualification in Medical Laboratory Science. [1]
Vennard started her career as a recurve archer in 1997 [5] and began representing Northern Ireland in 1998. [1] However, her osteoarthritis - for which she underwent two spinal operations - severely curtailed her success, so she switched to compound archery around 2006. [5] She went on to compete in the British Indoor and Euronations competitions for Northern Ireland between 2007 and 2010. [5]
After being classified as a disabled archer in 2009, she joined the British Paralympic archery squad. [4] [5] She won gold medals in the team recurve events at the 2011 Stoke Mandeville Open and at the 2011 Para-Archery World Ranking Event, held in Nymburk, Czech Republic. At the 2011 World Championships, held in Turin, Italy, she was part of the British trio that finished 5th in the team recurve. [1] [6]
She was selected as part of a squad of thirteen British archers to compete in her first Paralympics at the 2012 Summer Games held in London, United Kingdom. [7] In the women's individual recurve she qualified sixth after the opening ranking round, earning her a bye into the round of 16. [8] In her first match she faced Javzmaa Byambasuren of Mongolia and won six sets to two. [9] In the quarterfinal she competed against Yan Huilian the third seed from China and was beaten in straight sets, six to zero. [2] [9] In the women's team recurve Vennard competed alongside Kate Murray and Leigh Walmsley. They placed sixth in the ranking round with a combined score of 1549. The trio faced the South Korean team in the quarterfinals but were defeated 188-153 and eliminated from the competition. [10] [11]
Vennard trains at the City of Belfast Archery Club [1] and is coached by Alistair Whittingham. [12]
Deonne Ellen Bridger is an Australian archer. She started in the sport when she was four years old. She has represented Australia in archery at two different Olympic Games and is scheduled to compete in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She also represented Australia at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. As of June 2011, she is the top ranked female Australian archer.
Naomi Anne Folkard is a British archer who has represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games five times between 2004 and 2020. She has also represented Great Britain at the World Archery Championships and the Archery World Cup, and England at the Commonwealth Games.
Alison Jane Williamson MBE is a retired British archer who represented Great Britain at six consecutive Olympic Games from 1992 to 2012. She won a bronze medal in the women's individual event at the 2004 Summer Olympics, becoming the first British woman to win an Olympic archery medal in ninety-six years. Williamson achieved two medals at the World Archery Championships and represented England at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, winning two silver medals.

Deepika Kumari is an Indian professional archer. Currently ranked the World No. 2, she competes in the event of archery. She won a gold medal in the 2010 Commonwealth games in the women's individual recurve event. She also won a gold medal in the same competition in the women's team recurve event along with Dola Banerjee and Bombayala Devi. She has won individual gold in two of the three stages of the World Cup--one in Guatemala and another in Paris. In the process she also reclaimed the number one ranking after nine years in Paris World Cup. Deepika Kumari won individual gold medals at the Archery World Cup Stage 1. Deepika Kumari also defeated Mexico by 5–1 in the final to win gold in Paris.
The women's individual archery event at the 2012 Olympic Games was held from 27 July to 2 August 2012 at Lord's Cricket Ground in London in the United Kingdom. The event was one of four which comprised the 2012 Olympic archery programme of sports and was the eleventh time the women's individual competition was contested as an Olympic event. Forty different nations qualified for the competition, sending a total of sixty-four archers to compete. The defending Olympic champion from 2008 was Zhang Juanjuan of China, who did not compete following her retirement in 2010.
Amy Oliver is an archer from Great Britain. A competitor at the 2012 Summer Olympics, she won a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, a bronze medal at the 2011 World Archery Championships, and was the women's individual recurve champion at the World Field Archery Championships in 2016. Oliver announced her retirement from the British national archery team in 2017.

Ki Bo-bae is a South Korean recurve archer and three-time Olympic gold medalist. She was the winner of the women's team and women's individual events at the 2012 Summer Olympics and of the women's team event again at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where she also took bronze in the individual competition. Her tally of four Olympic medals places her among the most decorated archers in Olympic history.
Zahra Nemati is an Iranian Paralympic and Olympic archer. She originally competed in taekwondo before she was paralyzed in a car accident. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics she won two medals, an individual gold and team bronze. She has qualified to compete at both the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Summer Paralympics. She was the flag bearer at the 2016 Olympics and the postponed 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo where she shared the honour with thrower Nourmohammad Arekhi.
Patrick Huston is a British Olympian archer from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He captured three world championship titles under the youth level, and eventually competed as a member of the archery squad of Team GB at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Rio, losing the first round match to the eventual champion Ku Bon-chan of South Korea. Huston currently lives near Lilleshall National Sporting Centre and trains full-time under senior national coach Richard Priestman for Archery UK, while remaining a loyal founding member of East Belfast Archery Club. World ranking 57 at 2 July 2021.
Archery at the 2016 Summer Paralympics was held between 10 and 17 September 2016 at the Sambadrome Marquês de Sapucaí in the Maracana zone of Rio de Janeiro, and consisted of nine events. The make up of those events changed substantially from the 2012 games, and consisted of three men's events, three women's events and three events for mixed gender teams. Men, women and mixed teams each competed in two events for compound bow, one for wheelchair athletes, the other open, and an open event for recurve bow, the bow used for all Olympic events.

Earlier in 2019, she won the bronze medal in the women's team recurve event at the World Archery Championships held in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.
