Shinawil (stylised as ShinAwiL) Productions is an Irish television production company. [3] It was founded by producer Larry Bass and director Simon Gibney in 1999. [4] [1] [3] It was acquired by Screentime (branded as Screentime ShinAwiL) as part of a deal to produce an Irish version of Popstars in 2002. [4] In 2015, Screentime sold its 49% stake in Irish production company Shinawil. [3] Productions to date have included Irish versions of international franchises Dragons' Den , Dancing with the Stars and Popstars for RTÉ Television and The Apprentice for TV3. [4] [5]

Popstars is an international reality television franchise aimed to find new singing talent. Despite all shows in the Popstars franchise having been off air in recent years, it remains one of the most successful TV show formats of all time with the format being sold to more than 50 countries, and producing groups such as Girls Aloud that had success on the UK charts for the next ten years after winning. The show was the inspiration for Simon Fuller's Idols franchise.

Virgin Media Two, also called Virgin Two, is an Irish free-to-air television channel operated by Virgin Media Television.

Six were an Irish pop group who formed on the Irish version of the television programme Popstars in 2002. The programme aired on RTÉ One on Sunday nights in the autumn and winter of 2001–02. The band were signed to Simon Cowell under BMG Records UK and managed by Louis Walsh who also appeared as a judge on the show. Their first single, "There's a Whole Lot of Loving Going On", is currently the fastest and third-biggest selling single in Irish history.

"Sound of the Underground" is a song that was the debut single of British-Irish pop group Girls Aloud, and later featured on their debut album of the same title. The song was written by Miranda Cooper, Brian Higgins and Niara Scarlett, and produced by Higgins and his production team Xenomania. Following Girls Aloud's formation on the ITV1 reality television show Popstars: The Rivals, "Sound of the Underground" was released 16 days later, on 16 December 2002. Commercially, it was an immediate success; it became the year's Christmas number one in the UK, spending four consecutive weeks atop the chart. It also reached number one in Ireland and peaked within the top forty in Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland.

MasterChef is a competitive cooking show television format created by Franc Roddam, which originated with the UK version in July 1990. Dave Ross commissioned the show for the BBC and gave it the name; he had already produced Masterteam, a quiz with Angela Rippon, and worked on Mastermind, and so the name was a continuum of that. The format was revived and updated for the BBC in February 2005 by executive producers Roddam and John Silver with series producer Karen Ross.

<i>The Voice of Ireland</i> Irish TV series or programme

The Voice of Ireland is the Irish edition of the international TV franchise The Voice, a reality singing competition created by media tycoon John de Mol. The first series began airing from 8 January 2012 on RTÉ One. The coaches originally were Bressie, Sharon Corr, Kian Egan and Brian Kennedy. Kennedy left after the first series and was replaced by Jamelia. After the second series, Corr quit the show owing to other commitments and was replaced by Dolores O'Riordan. Following series 3, Dolores and Jamelia quit. The coaches for series 4 were Bressie, Una Healy, Kian Egan and Rachel Stevens. The show was hosted by Kathryn Thomas and co-hosted by Eoghan McDermott, who also presented backstage show The Voice After Party in Series 3.

The Voice of Ireland was an Irish reality talent show which is broadcast by RTÉ. In June 2015, it was confirmed by the programme's broadcaster RTÉ that the show would be recommissioned for a fifth series, despite speculation of its axing for Syco Productions' Ireland's Got Talent. The Voice of Ireland continued to be produced by Screentime ShinAwiL Productions, and filmed in The Helix.

Screentime is an Australian television production company, which develops and produces scripted and unscripted television programs in Australia and New Zealand. The company has produced numerous popular series including Popstars, the Underbelly format, RBT and Janet King.
