A heptathlon is a track and field combined events contest made up of seven events. The name derives from the Greek hepta (seven) and ἄθλος. A competitor in a heptathlon is referred to as a heptathlete.
The World Athletics Indoor Championships are a biennial indoor track and field competition served as the global championship for that version of the sport. Organised by the World Athletics, the competition was inaugurated as the World Indoor Games in 1985 in Paris, France and were subsequently renamed to IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1987. The current name was adapted with the name change of the sports governing body in 2019.
60 metres, or 60-meter dash, is a sprint event in track and field. It is a championship event for indoor championships, normally dominated by the best outdoor 100 metres runners. At outdoor venues it is a rare distance, at least for senior athletes. The format of the event is similar to other sprint distances. The sprinters follow three initial instructions: 'ready', instructing them to take up position in the starting blocks; 'set', instructing them to adopt a more efficient starting posture, which also isometrically preloads their muscles. This will enable them to start faster. The final instruction is the firing of the starter's pistol. Upon hearing this the sprinters stride forwards from the blocks.
The Adidas Grand Prix was an annual athletics meeting held at Icahn Stadium in New York City, United States. First started in 2005 as the Reebok Grand Prix, it was previously one of the IAAF Grand Prix events. It was part of the Diamond League competition through 2015. The IAAF announced on March 3, 2016, that New York would be replaced immediately by Rabat, Morocco, on the Diamond League tour. Local organizers the same day said they would announce plans to carry on the meet as a street event in New York.
Shara Proctor is a British jumper born in Anguilla. She is the national record holder of both Anguilla and Great Britain. On 28 August 2015 at the World Championships in Beijing she became the first British, female, long-jumper to jump over 7 metres (7.07), setting a new British record and earning a world championship silver medal in the process. She also won the 2013 IAAF Diamond League in the event. Her younger sister is the Anguillan sprinter Shinelle Proctor.

Sierra Leone competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This marked the nation's tenth appearance at the Summer Olympics since its debut in the 1968 Summer Olympics. The Sierra Leone delegation included two track and field athletes; Ibrahim Turay, a sprinter and Ola Sesay, a long jumper. Sesay and Turay were selected as flag bearers for the opening and closing ceremonies respectively. Neither of the two athletes progressed beyond the first round.

The 2014 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships took place on March 29, 2014. The races were held in Copenhagen, Denmark. The essentially flat one-loop course was beginning and ending in the city centre by Christiansborg Castle. Jazmin Sawyers is a British track and field athlete who competes in the long jump. She has also competed as a bobsledder and a heptathlete.
The women's long jump at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Beijing National Stadium on 27 and 28 August. Defending champion Brittney Reese returned but was unable to get out of the qualification round. Katarina Johnson-Thompson could have used her 6.79 automatic qualifier in her heptathlon earlier in the week, 6.79 meters further than she received credit for.
Miguel Francis is a sprinter born in Montserrat, a British overseas territory who as of 5 April 2017 represents Great Britain internationally. Francis, a resident of Antigua and Barbuda following his evacuation from Montserrat at just 6 months old, competed for that nation prior to April 2017. He competed for that country in the 200 metres at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing narrowly missing the final.

Anguilla has competed at the IAAF World Athletics Championships on seventeen occasions, attending every edition since the 1983 World Championships in Athletics. Its competing country code is AIA. The territory has not won any medals at the competition. Its best performance is by Shara Proctor, who placed fifth in the women's long jump at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics. Proctor later won a World Championships silver medal while competing for Great Britain.
