Shiragirl is an American punk rock band from Southern California. The band currently consists of Shira Yevin, Raine Palladino, Constance Antoinette Day, and Alex Nicole Windsor. [1] Shiragirl is best known for founding the Shiragirl Stage on the Vans Warped Tour showcasing underground, female-fronted bands. [2]
In 2003, Shira Yevin played the Girlz Garage Tour to spin off Vans Warped Tour appearing under the stage name Shiragirl. [3]
In 2004, Shiragirl recorded their first song "Go, Go, Go" with the producer Tim Armstrong of Rancid. The song ended being released on Shiragirls EP Not Sold in Stores [4] that was finished with the producer Johny London.
The same year in Fullerton, California, Shiragirl crashed Vans Warped Tour and created the makeshift Shiragirl Stage. [2] [5] Shiragirl, DJ Lava, and former bandmates, bought bubblegum pink color paint along with electric saws that transformed a $12,000 box truck into a mobile venue that would crank down into a 15-foot elevated wooden stage. Shiragirl was then invited by the Kevin Lyman, Vans Warped Tour founder, to finish the rest of Warped Tour as one of the acts on the festival lineup. [6] [7] Shiragirl was also responsible in recruiting female acts to perform at the festival. While on tour, on the last day Shiragirl performed "Bad Reputation" with Joan Jett.
In 2010, Shiragirl released the sing Scream! Spit! Sing! where they collaborated with Lil Wayne. [8]
The band is known for efforts supporting female artists in the male-dominated music industry by founding the Shiragirl Stage at Vans Warped Tour. [9] [10] The "pink-and-black" stage allowed at least 300 female-fronted underground bands to perform at the festival. Some of the many acts included Joan Jett, [11] Katy Perry, The Dollyrots, Blameshift, Paramore, and more. [12]

Shiragirl earned the MTV's 2005 "Warpie Award" for crashing the tour and following the tour in their RV without paying a fee to play as the other bands. This is considered the most punk-rock move to get invited into the Vans Warped Tour Family. [13]
The Germs were an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California, originally active from 1976 to 1980. The band's "classic" lineup consisted of singer Darby Crash, guitarist Pat Smear, bassist Lorna Doom and drummer Don Bolles. They released only one album, 1979's (GI), produced by Joan Jett, and were featured in Penelope Spheeris' seminal documentary film The Decline of Western Civilization, which chronicled the Los Angeles punk movement. The Germs disbanded following Crash's suicide in 1980. Their music was influential to many later rock acts, and Smear went on to achieve greater fame performing with Nirvana and Foo Fighters.
The Warped Tour was a traveling rock tour that toured the United States plus three or four stops in Canada annually each summer from 1995 until 2019. It was the largest traveling music festival in the United States and the longest-running touring music festival to date in North America. Following the first Warped Tour, the skateboard shoe manufacturer Vans became the tour’s main sponsor, when it then became known as the Vans Warped Tour. Vans toured Australia in 1998–2002 and again in 2013. Although Vans continued as main sponsor and lent its name to the festival, other sponsors also participated, with stages or other aspects of the festival being named after them on occasion.
Joan Jett is an American singer, guitarist, record producer and actress. Jett is best known for her work as the frontwoman of her band Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and for earlier founding and performing with the Runaways, which recorded and released the hit song "Cherry Bomb". With The Blackhearts, Jett is known for her rendition of the song "I Love Rock 'n Roll" which was number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks in 1982. Jett's other notable songs include "Bad Reputation", "Light of Day", "I Hate Myself for Loving You" and her covers of "Crimson and Clover", "Do You Wanna Touch Me " and "Dirty Deeds".

Big D and the Kids Table is a ska punk band formed in October 1995 in Boston, Massachusetts when its members converged in college. Their first release was on their own Fork in Hand Records label, but have since teamed with Springman Records and SideOneDummy. The band has been noted for its strict DIY work ethic, such as engineering, producing, and releasing their own albums and videos and self-promotion of their own shows.

The group consists of vocalists and guitarists Dan O'Connor and Alan Day, bassist Joe Weiss, and drummer Jake Massucco. Forever the Sickest Kids is an American pop punk band from Dallas, Texas. The band first signed with Universal Motown Records and released its debut album, Underdog Alma Mater, on April 29, 2008. The band's second album, Forever the Sickest Kids, was released on March 1, 2011. Universal Motown Records was later shut down in 2011 and the band was left unsigned for over a year until signing to Fearless Records in late 2012. The band released its third studio album, J.A.C.K., on June 25, 2013. In an Alternative Press article, the band was placed number one underground band of the "22 Best Underground Bands".
Every Avenue is an American pop-punk band from Marysville, Michigan, formed in 2003. The band consisted of David Ryan Strauchman, Joshua Randall Withenshaw, Jimmie Deeghan, Matt Black and Dennis Wilson. The band is signed to Fearless Records and released their debut album, Shh, Just Go with it in 2008. It was followed-up by their second album, Picture Perfect, in 2009, which reached No. 136 on Billboard 200. In 2011, the band's latest and third album titled Bad Habits was released, and it peaked at No. 63 on Billboard 200, being the band's highest chart position. Every Avenue has toured with bands such as Mayday Parade, All Time Low, The Maine on The Compromising of Integrity, Morality and Principles in Exchange for Money Tour, Boys Like Girls, and have appeared on the Vans Warped Tour.
The Randies are a female-fronted punk rock band from Los Angeles, California. They have been featured in Blender, as well as selected as the featured artists of the month on Fender's website. The Randies have produced two full-length albums, and also two music videos for songs from their second release. They toured often, only taking a few months off at a time when they reach their home in California. Their most recent major appearance was on the Vans Warped Tour in summer of 2008.

Tip the Van is an American rock/ska group formed in Marlborough, Connecticut, United States, in 2002. The lineup consists of Nicole Oliva (vocals), Simone Oliva (vocals), Stephanie Allen (trombone/keyboard), Brian Dunnigan, and Bryan Howard (bass). After nine years, three EP's, one album, and several national tours, the band announced its indefinite hiatus in 2011. In 2019, the band reunited for two live performances in Connecticut.
Warped Tour 1998 was the 4th edition of the Vans Warped Tour. The 34-date North American tour began on in Phoenix, Arizona, and ended August 9, 1998 in Austin, Texas. Four concerts were held in Canada, with the rest in United States locations. After the North American tour ended, Warped Tour traveled overseas for the first time, with a modified lineup appearing in Europe, Australia and Japan. The previous edition had a European leg.
We Came as Romans is an American metalcore band from Troy, Michigan. Formed in 2005, the band has gone through one name change and multiple line-up changes, and signed to SharpTone Records in 2016 after having been on roster of Equal Vision Records since 2009. They have released six studio albums – To Plant a Seed (2009), Understanding What We've Grown to Be (2011), Tracing Back Roots (2013), We Came as Romans (2015), Cold Like War (2017) and Darkbloom (2022) – and two EPs in 2008 titled Demonstrations and Dreams.
Go Betty Go is an all-female pop punk band from Los Angeles that, along with bands such as Union 13, Los Abandoned, The Dollyrots, and Left Alone, have been prominent in the Southern California Chicano Punk scene that started in the mid-2000s and continues today.
Ice Nine Kills is an American heavy metal band from Boston, Massachusetts, who are signed to Fearless Records. Best known for its horror-inspired lyrics, Ice Nine Kills formed in its earliest incarnation in 2000 by high school friends Spencer Charnas and Jeremy Schwartz. Charnas is currently the only remaining founding member.
Doll Skin was an American rock band from Phoenix, Arizona, United States. The original band members met at School of Rock Scottsdale. Their sound blended a blend of punk, metal, alternative, and pop. Doll Skin has been compared to bands ranging from The Donnas, to The Go-Go's, and to The Runaways. There exists a long-standing and well-documented relationship between Jews and punk rock. This includes multiple prominent Jewish musicians, promoters, and label executives who were involved in the development of punk in the 1970s and 1980s, the continued presence of prominent Jewish artists and personalities in the genre in the modern era, a small but noteworthy punk rock scene in Israel, and a more recent loose proto-scene of explicitly Jewish-themed punk bands and artists.
