Shiulimala (a garland of shiuli) (1931) is a book of short stories, written by Kazi Nazrul Islam. This book contains four stories. The stories contained in the volume are: Padmagokhra, Shiulimala, Ognigiri, Jiner Badsha. [1] These stories are erotic. [2] Here we find romantic Nazrul. However, Nazrul made great contributions in Bengali.
Bengali poetry is a rich tradition of poetry in the Bengali language and has many different forms. Originating in the Bengal region of South Asia, the history of Bengali poetry underwent three successive stages of development: poetry of the early age, the Medieval period and the age of modern poetry which was introduced in the 1930s. The national poet of Bangladesh, the country with the highest number of native Bengali speakers, is Kazi Nazrul Islam - a 20th-century writer infamous for his activism against British colonial rule through revolutionary works such as Bidrohi (Rebel).
Kazi Nazrul Islam was a Bengali poet, writer, musician and the national poet of Bangladesh. Popularly known as Nazrul, he produced a large body of poetry and music with themes that included religious devotion and rebellion against oppression. Nazrul's activism for political and social justice earned him the title of "Bidrohi Kobi". A prominent leader of Communist Party of India and one of the founding leaders of Kirti Kisan Party or Workers and Peasants Party a important front organisation for the Communist Party of India. His compositions form the avant-garde music genre of Nazrul Geeti.
Nazrul Geeti or Nazrul Sangeet, literally "music of Nazrul", refers to the songs written and composed by Kazi Nazrul Islam. Nazrul Geeti incorporate revolutionary notions as well as more spiritual, philosophical and romantic themes. Nazrul wrote and composed nearly 4,000 songs, which are widely popular in Bangladesh and India. Some of the most notable Nazrul Geeti include Notuner Gaan, the national marching song of Bangladesh and O Mon Romzaner Oi Rozar Sheshe, an Islamic song on the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Kallol refers to one of the most influential literary movements in Bengali literature, which can be placed approximately between 1923 and 1935. The name Kallol of the Kallol group derives from a magazine of the same name. Kallol was the main mouthpiece for a group of young writers starting their careers around that time including Premendra Mitra, Kazi Nazrul Islam, and Buddhadeb Basu. A number of other magazines that followed Kallol can also be placed as part of the general movement. These include Uttara (1925), Pragati (1926), Kalikolom (1926), and Purbasha (1932).
Bengali literature denotes the body of writings in the Bengali language. Bengali has developed over the course of roughly 1,300 years. The earliest extant work in Bengali literature is the Charyapada, a collection of Buddhist mystic songs dating back to the 10th and 11th centuries, and considered to be written in an ancestor language of Bengali, Assamese, Odia and many other languages belonging to the Eastern branch of the Indo-Aryan languages. The timeline of Bengali literature is divided into three periods − ancient (650-1200), medieval (1200-1800) and modern. Medieval Bengali literature consists of various poetic genres, including Hindu religious scriptures, Islamic epics, Vaishnava texts, translations of Arabic, Persian and Sanskrit texts, and secular texts by Muslim poets. Novels were introduced in the mid-19th century. Other than the Eastern Nagari script, Bengali has been written with different scripts such as the Perso-Arabic and Sylheti Nagri in certain parts of history. Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore was the best known figure of Bengali literature to the world. Kazi Nazrul Islam, notable for his activism and anti-British literature, was described as the Rebel Poet and is now recognised as the National poet of Bangladesh.
The Ekushey Book Fair or Amar Ekushe Grantha Melā, popularly known as Ekushey Boi Mela is the national book fair of Bangladesh. It is arranged each year by Bangla Academy and takes place for the whole month of February in Dhaka. This event is dedicated to the martyrs who died on 21 February 1952 in a demonstration calling for the establishment of Bengali as one of the state languages of former East Pakistan.
S. Krishnamoorthy or S. Krishnamurthy has been writing short stories and articles in English and Tamil for over four decades. He was also the winner of prestigious Sahitya Akademi prize for translation.
"Bidrohi" is a popular revolutionary Bengali poem and the most famous poem written by Kazi Nazrul Islam in December 1921. Originally published in several periodicals, the poem was first collected in 1922 in a volume titled Agnibeena: the first anthology of Nazrul's poems. Many has seen, in this poem, elements of romanticism, heroism, and love. This poem, through which Nazrul celebrated human creative powers, asserted his affirmation of the individual human capacity for heroic action and human unity and solemnly called for rebellion against all forms of oppression elevated him to the status of a national figure. Syed Ali Ahsan wrote that the poem was inspired by Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself".
Kazi Nazrul University (KNU) is a public University in Asansol, West Bengal. The university has been named after the poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The university was established under Kazi Nazrul University Act, 2012. Assent of the Governor was first published in the Kolkata gazette, extraordinary 16 August 2012. The University has been founded with a vision. The vision is to function efficiently as a university encouraging and providing instructions, teaching, training and research in verious branches of learning and courses of study for promoting advancement and dissemination of knowledge and extending higher education to meet the growing needs of the society.

Ora Egaro Jon is a 1972 Bengali historical drama film written by Al Masood and directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam, based on the Bangladesh Liberation War. Director Islam and lead actor Khosru Noman were both members of Mukti Bahini. It was the first movie of Bangladesh after independence. It has been selected for preservation by the Bangladesh Film Archive.
Notuner Gaan, more popularly known as Chol Chol Chol is the national march of Bangladesh., whose lyrics and tune were written by national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in 1928. It was first published in the newspaper Shikha with the title Notuner Gaan and was later included in Nazrul's book Shondha. The Bangladeshi government adopted this song as the national marching song of Bangladesh on 13 January 1972 in its first meeting after the country's independence. The first lines of the song are played at most military ceremonies or functions. The Daily Star has referred to it as the national military song.

Nashid Kamal is a Bangladeshi vocalist, writer and professor of demography. She is the eldest granddaughter of Bengali folk singer Abbasuddin Ahmed. Kamal is widely regarded as a Nazrul exponent. The film produced by Mohammad Iqbal Hossain and story written by Mohammed Mohiuddin and also screenplay and dialogue by Jalaluddin Rumi. The film stars Bobita, Farooque, Champa, Bulbul Ahmed, ATM Shamsuzzaman and more. In 1991, this film received the National Film Award for the best film award including other six categories.
