Shtar is an Israeli Jewish rap rock band based in Beit Shemesh. Formed in 2006 by American rapper Ori Murray and English guitarist/songwriter Brad Rubinstein, the band released their debut album, Infinity, in Israel in 2010 and in the United States through Shemspeed Records in 2012. They have received considerable media attention, much of it focused on the contrast between their traditional Jewish dress and modern-sounding music. Infinity is the debut studio album by Jewish hip hop band Shtar. Produced by then-drummer David Epstein, the album was originally released by the independent Shemesh Music label on May 2, 2010. After the band was signed to the larger indie label Shemspeed a year later, it was re-released by that label on March 5, 2012.

Nissim Baruch Black is an American-Israeli rapper and producer from Seattle, Washington. Originally performing under the name D. Black, he released two albums, The Cause and Effect (2006) and Ali'yah (2009), and was featured on producer Jake One's debut album White Van Music (2008). He retired in 2011 to focus on his conversion to Orthodox Judaism, but returned in 2012 under his Hebrew name, Nissim, and began writing from a more religious standpoint. He appeared on the Shtar song "Rabbit Hole" from their album Boss EP, released in 2012. In 2013, he released a mixtape, Miracle Music, followed by his debut album, self-titled Nissim. In March 2017, he released his second album Lemala.
Shtar Academy is a French hip hop collective that started in a prison, consisting of rappers Badri, Malik and Mirak, who served sentences of varying periods for different charges. It was founded in 2012 as a result of a pilot project at the Aix-en-Provence Prison in Luynes, Bouches-du-Rhône.
