Because Music is an record label based in France. [3] The label was founded in 2004 by Emmanuel de Buretel and Eric Bielsa upon their exit from major labels. [4] Because Music has acts such as Justice, Christine and the Queens and Aime Simone on their roster. [5]

Because Music was founded in late 2004, by Emmanuel de Buretel and Eric Bielsa. Early successes for the label included Justice Mercury Music Prize nominated Metronomy, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Amadou & Mariam. [6] [7]

The label co-founded the We Love Green pop festival in 2009. [8]

Because Music UK

Because Music UK was founded in 2005. [9]

In 2017, Because acquired the catalogues of over 60 artists from Warner Music Group, including Mano Negra, The Beta Band, [10] and most of London Records. [11]

Because Music UK has artists such as Bananarama and Goldie. [12]

Because Music US

In 2017, Because signed a deal with Caroline Distribution (now Virgin Music) (a Universal Music division) for distribution of Because's releases starting in 2019. Before, the distribution was held by Warner Music's Alternative Distribution Alliance and Vice Records. [13]

Awards

Because music won best independent label at The A&R Awards in 2016. [14] In 2017 Because Music was named Best Independent Label at the AIM Independent Music Awards. [15] [16]

ASV Records was a London-based record label set up by Harley Usill, founder of Argo Records, Decca producer and former Argo general manager, Kevin Daly, and producer Jack Boyce, after Argo's parent company Decca was bought by PolyGram in 1980. ASV stood for "Academy Sound and Vision". The label was bought by the Sanctuary Records Group in May 1999.

They used proprietary distribution systems and focused on analytics and reporting technologies, as well as their own platform that artists and labels used to manage business.

Spinnup was a digital music distribution service owned by Universal Music Group. It was founded in early 2013 in Sweden. Spinnup is a signed distribution platform that offers an aggregator service to musicians and artist who are not signed to major labels so they can distribute their music worldwide via online retailers such as Deezer, Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Tidal, Napster, Amazon Music and Google Play.

An independent record label is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. The labels and artists are often represented by trade associations in their country or region, which in turn are represented by the international trade body, the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN).
