He is known for playing the hero Takeshi Hongo in the tokusatsu superhero series Kamen Rider, and later the Sega Saturn mascot Segata Sanshiro. Fujioka is a cultural icon in Japan, even having had the minor planet 12408 Fujioka, which was discovered by Akimasa Nakamura, named in his honor. Fujioka writes his name with the ideographic comma at the end, saying "It is meant to remind me to reconsider myself and what it is that I need to achieve. It shows that I am not yet finished with my tasks and must continue working toward their accomplishment."

Kamen Rider W Forever: A to Z/The Gaia Memories of Fate is the second film adaptation of the Kamen Rider W television series, directed by Koichi Sakamoto and released in Japanese theaters on August 7, 2010. It was filmed in 3D, making it the first feature length 3D film in the Kamen Rider franchise. The film's main guest star is Mitsuru Matsuoka of the band Sophia, who stars as the film's antagonist Katsumi Daido / Kamen Rider Eternal; other guest stars include Genki Sudo and Aya Sugimoto. Following the tradition of previous Heisei Kamen Rider movies, Kamen Rider W Forever was released as a double-bill with the Super Sentai franchise film Tensou Sentai Goseiger: Epic on the Movie. Additionally, the titular protagonist of Kamen Rider OOO made his first appearance in the film.

The film's subtitle "Let's Go Kamen Riders" is an homage to the theme song of the original series, "Let's Go!! Rider Kick".
