Shukla Bose is the founder and CEO of the Parikrma Humanity Foundation, [2] a nonprofit organization that runs English-medium schools for under-privileged children in Bangalore, India.
She volunteered with Mother Teresa at Missionaries of Charity for 7 years. [1] [3] Her career began as a teacher in a convent school in Kolkata, and she later moved on to work at an army school in Bhutan.
She then worked with the Oberoi Group, and afterwards as the Managing Director of Resort Condominiums India (RCI (company)). However, as she approached her mid-30s, she began to question what impact she could make in life. She admits, "by 1997, I was doing something bizarre, looking at obits and writing my own too, trying to understand from other people’s lives what leaves behind an impact." [4]
In 2000, she accepted an offer run a multinational NGO for children, and started their Indian operations. Within two years of applying her leadership and institution-building skills there, she felt inspired to start an NGO of her own.
Shukla Bose spent 26 years in the hospitality industry before giving up her CEO position to begin Parikrma in 2003. [5]

Kheroth Mohini Bose (1866–1935) was a physician and missionary who dedicated her life to medical missionary work in the town of Asrapur, also referred to as Araspur, in India. She served with the Church of England Zenana Missionary Society until her death. She was the head of the medical mission in Asrapur in 1889. Bose was the nurse in Asrapur and pioneered the care of Women across the Punjab region. She died shortly after retirement in 1935. She was one of the founders of the Lady Irwin Tuberculosis Sanatorium. Bose was awarded the Kaiser-i-Hindi silver medal for her service. Bose used her 50 years of service to bring quality medical care to a previously impoverished area.
Sonal Shukla (1941–2021) was an Indian feminist, activist, teacher, writer, and social worker. She is known for her establishment of the Vacha Charitable Trust, a private organisation that founded a library for women scholars in Mumbai, India. She was a key member of the feminist protests regarding the Mathura Rape case, and a founding member of the Forum Against Oppression of Women, which successfully led a movement to reform India's laws against rape in the 1980s.
