Daniel John Vidmar, best known by his stage name Shy Girls, is an American alternative R&B singer-songwriter and producer currently based in Los Angeles, CA. His debut EP, Timeshare, was released in 2013 to critical acclaim on the Internet. [2] [3] [4] [5] Throughout 2014, Shy Girls was hand-picked as US tour opener for Haim, Maxwell, and Little Dragon [6] and performed at festivals like Lollapalooza [7] and MusicfestNW. [8] Vidmar also was featured on "All We Need" by Odesza for their 2014 album, In Return . [9] In 2015, he released a 13-track mixtape titled 4WZ which featured guest appearances by Tei Shi, Rome Fortune, Antwon, and Junglepussy. [10] As a producer and songwriter, Vidmar has worked with artists such as Jhené Aiko, Young Thug, Cashmere Cat, Kito, Cyril Hahn, and Yoke Lore. [11] [12] [13] [14] [15]

Life and career

Vidmar was born in State College, Pennsylvania. [16] He attended Pennsylvania State University where he majored in psychology and played classic rock music in a dive-bar before moving to Portland upon graduation. [17]

Timeshare EP

In 2013, Vidmar released his first single, "Under Attack", on SoundCloud. Pitchfork called the track "thrilling", "a devastating slow jam that knows just how long to withhold its pleasures" [18] and Noisey named the track the 5th best song of 2013. [19] Subsequently, his debut EP Timeshare was released in October of that year, garnering positive attention from many music publications and blogs. [2]

Following the success of Timeshare, Shy Girls toured as the opening act for Haim on their 2014 US tour. Later that year he also went on to tour as the opening act for neo soul godfather Maxwell and Swedish electronic act Little Dragon. [6]

4WZ Mixtape

On February 4, 2015, Vidmar released a free 13-track mixtape, 4WZ, named after a radio station from his hometown. [20] The mixtape featured appearances from Tei Shi, Rome Fortune, Antwon, and Junglepussy.

Salt and Bird on the Wing

Vidmar's debut full-length album, Salt, was released on January 20, 2017. [21] After a two year hiatus, he released the follow-up album, Bird on the Wing, in 2019 via the RCA imprint, Keep Cool. [22] [23]

American rapper, singer and record producer Kitty has released two studio albums, one mixtape, two compilation albums, ten extended plays, and twenty-eight singles. Kitty began rapping in 2010, and shared her music online under the stage name Kitty Pryde. In 2011, she served as a member of hip-hop group Jokers in Trousers. The group released a self-titled EP, which would be their only release before disbanding. In July 2011, Kitty released a solo mixtape titled The Lizzie McGuire Experience.

Ryan Farrington, known by his stage name Akouo, previously known as Mynse, is an Australian electronic musician, producer and DJ. He is also a member of the hip hop duo Letters to the Sun with Coin Banks. He became the first Tasmanian-based act to perform at Splendour in the Grass in 2015. He has released one studio album: Outwit the Muscle (2008).

Lauren Auder is a British-French singer-songwriter and record producer. Born in Watford and raised in the French town of Albi, she began her career producing for underground French and English rap artists. Auder signed to True Panther Sounds and made her solo debut in 2018 with the EP Who Carry's You, which was followed by the EP Two Caves In in 2020. Her debut album, The Infinite Spine, was released on 18 July 2023.
