Silya Nymoen (Silje Haugum Nymoen, born January 3, 1978) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter based in Oslo. She is the lead singer and songwriter in the band Silya & The Sailors .
Silya was singing and playing classical piano by age 8. She majored in contemporary jazz dance at The Oslo National Academy of Art . [2]
Silya first gained success being the lead singer of the Norwegian hip hop/pop group Multicyde that was signed to Warner Music Group and had three number 1 hits in Norway between 1999 and 2002. While in Multicyde, she performed in musical theater shows like Cabaret, Chicago, and West Side Story. [3]
After Multicyde, Silya began working with the Murlyn Music production house in Stockholm as a songwriter. Silya wrote the singles "Kiss Your Mama!" recorded by Australian artist Vanessa Amorosi and "Masterplan" recorded by Swiss artist Stefanie Heinzmann that both went gold in their respective countries. [3] She also wrote the songs "Sneakernight" and "Last Night" on Vanessa Hudgens' album Identified . [4] Most recently, Silya's song "Rock With You" was recorded by Rachel Crow, who came in fifth place on the U.S. The X Factor . Silya has worked with the likes of Cee Lo Green (Gnarls Barkley), Printz Board (Black Eyed Peas, Macy Gray, Nikka Costa), Lester Mendez (Shakira, Nelly Furtado), J.R. Rotem (Rihanna), and Mark Hill (Craig David, Artful Dodger). [2]
In August 2011 Silya released the solo album Peel Away with New York based record label Eusonia Records. [2]
She started writing and also had a dance pop collaboration with Mark Palgy of VHS or Beta and producer Mark Verbos. [3] They wrote songs that later appeared on the album Unanchored (2014) and Life Resolution Heart (2017) re-recorded with her current band Silya & The Sailors.
She is a featuring artist on Crown City Rockers "Kiss" (2009) and on Raashan Ahmad "These foolish things" feat Count Bass D (2010).
She is also a featuring artist on Soft Touch "Swim in the night"(2014).
Silya was a semi-finalist in Melodi Grand Prix 2012 with a song called "Euphoria". Fellow semi-finalist Rikke Normann performed Silya's song "Shapeshifter."
In 2013 she won the TV singing competition called Stjernekamp in Norway and moved back after 8 years in New York City. 2013 was the year she started the band Silya & The Sailors and started touring and recording under that name. In 2019 they released the EP Quantum Bounce.

Marion Elise Ravn, better known as Marion Raven, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. Raven formed the pop duo M2M with Marit Larsen, though they ceased performing together in 2002. Raven was later signed as a solo artist by Atlantic Records with the release of her solo debut album, Here I Am in 2005. In 2006, Raven was signed to the indie record label, Eleven Seven, and in 2007 re-released the songs on her debut album along with a few new songs on an album titled Set Me Free. "Irreplaceable" was originally a country record; it was re-arranged as a mid-tempo ballad with pop and R&B influences by modifying the vocal arrangements and instrumentation. During the production and recording sessions, Beyoncé and Ne-Yo wanted to create a record which people of either gender could relate to. The song's lyrics are about the breakdown of a relationship with an unfaithful man and the song contains a message about female empowerment.
"Kissing You" is a song by British singer Des'ree. It was written by the singer with Timothy Atack for Baz Luhrmann's 1996 film Romeo + Juliet. The song was included on the film's soundtrack album and Des'ree's third studio album, Supernatural (1998). A pop ballad set in the key of A minor, the record uses a simple instrumentation consisting only of piano and string instruments. "Kissing You" featured in Romeo + Juliet when the title characters meet at a ball. The song was well received by critics for its emotional melody and toned-down production. It was filmed at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, on September 2, 2007 during her world tour The Beyoncé Experience. Norway participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Icebreaker" written by Agnete Johnsen, Gabriel Alares and Ian Curnow. The song was performed by Agnete. The Norwegian broadcaster Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK) organised the national final Melodi Grand Prix 2016 in order to select the Norwegian entry for the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Ten entries competed in a show that took place on 27 February 2016 and the winner was determined over two rounds of public televoting. The top four entries in the first round of voting advanced to the competition's second round—the Gold Final. In the second round of public televoting, "Icebreaker" performed by Agnete was selected as the winner with 166,728 votes.
"That's How You Write a Song" is a song written and performed by Belarusian-Norwegian singer Alexander Rybak. It represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal. The song was released as a digital download on 15 January 2018.
