The Singapore Management University (SMU) is a publicly-funded private university in Singapore. Amman Arab University, abbreviated AAU, is a private university in Amman, Jordan. It was established in 1997 as a non-profit private university for graduate studies. The first group of students began studying there in 1999/2000. Initially the university offered only graduate programs but it began to accept undergraduates in 2009. There are currently six madrasahs in Singapore offering primary to tertiary education, namely, Aljunied Al-Islamiah, Irsyad Zuhri Al-Islamiah, Al-Maarif Al-Islamiah, Alsagoff Al-Arabiah, Al-Arabiah Al-Islamiah, and Wak Tanjong Al-Islamiah. Four of them are co-educational, while the other two offer madrasah education exclusively to girls.
The Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan is a public teacher-training university college situated in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, founded in 2007. The institution aims to improve the standing of religious education in Brunei and create educators by integrating research and teaching knowledge based on Islamic principles and the Melayu Islam Beraja (MIB) concept.
Coordination of Islamic Colleges (CIC), based in Kerala, India, is an Islamic university serving as an academic administrative body. Colleges affiliated with the CIC offer "Wafy" courses for men and "Wafiyya" for women, which combine both Islamic and secular higher education. These courses were designed and developed by Abdul Hakeem Faizy, an Islamic scholar and educationalist, who currently serves as the General Secretary of the CIC and is an executive board member from India at the League of Islamic Universities based in Cairo. Panakkad Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal is the current President of the CIC. At present, there are around 100 institutes affiliated to the CIC in Kerala. The CIC was established in Malappuram District in 2000 and was associated with the Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama, principal Sunni-Shafi'i scholarly council, in Kerala.
Jemaah Tarbiyah, also known as the Tarbiyah movement or the Dakwah movement, is an Islamic religious movement based in Indonesia. Jemaah Tarbiyah was an active movement during the 1980s to 1990s and consisted of university students, aimed at the religious education and da'wah (proselytizing). The movement is considered to be influenced by the teaching of Muslim Brotherhood. It is considered an important influence for Islamization of Indonesia. The movement became the bedrock of the Islamist party Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) which was founded in 2002.
Ghulam Mohammad Vastanvi, also written as Ghulam Mohammed Vastanvi, is an Indian Islamic scholar and educationist, known for his efforts to incorporate contemporary disciplines into traditional Islamic education. He is the founder and rector of Jamia Islamia Ishaatul Uloom in Akkalkuwa, Maharashtra. This institution hosts India’s first minority-owned medical college recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI). Vastanvi also briefly served as the Vice Chancellor of Darul Uloom Deoband in 2011.
Jamia Tur Rasheed, Karachi is an Islamic seminary in Karachi, Pakistan. The seminary was established by Rasheed Ahmad Ludhianvi. It is accredited degree awarding institute by Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and the Higher Education Commission. The seminary has 36 departments including "Kulyatush Shariyah". It also runs female schools including "Jamia Umm Habībah lil-Banāt", "Jamia Hafsa lil-Banāt" and "Al-Bairuni Girls Secondary School".
Mufti Shamoon Qasmi is an Indian politician who is a Cabinet minister of Uttarakhand and chairman of Uttarakhand Madarsa board education. He is also a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Nazirudin Mohd Nasir is a Singaporean Islamic cleric currently serving as the 4th mufti of Singapore since 2020. He is also a member of the National Steering Committee on Racial and Religious Harmony. Nasir was appointed as a member of the Presidential Council for Minority Rights in February 2024 for a term of three years. As a mufti, he is also the director of religious and policy development at the Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura.
