Sippi is a semi-town near Daporijo in Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh it is inhabited by mostly Tagin's of central zone, Sippi also has plain parts which is surrounded by two rivers namely Subansiri, sippi [1] ( Sippi comes under Sigin-I of Dapriojo Circle and it is also populated with people from chetam circle)

Topography

Located 14 km from district headquarter Daporijo. It is beside two rivers and acts as center for many other villages. It is situated in between Pissa hill and Batam-Belu hill in two sides and Subansiri River in other side.

Festivals

Locals celebrate Donyi-Polo day (indigenous day) with much gaiety and festivity. It is organized by village community on 1 December every year, with worship starting from Donyi-Polo Namlo. With cultural program following afterwards. The Sippi River Festival was organized for the first time in the year 2020 on 23 to 26 February.

Galo tribe

The Galo are a central Eastern Himalayan tribe, who are descendants of Abo Tani and speak the Tani language Galo language. The Galo people primarily inhabit West Siang, Lepa Rada, and Lower Siang districts of modern-day Arunachal Pradesh state in North Eastern India, but they are also found in the southwestern side of East Siang district, the southeastern side of Upper Subansiri district, as well as in some small pockets in Itanagar, Lower Dibang Valley, and Changlang districts. Other names which have been used to reference the Galo in the past include Duba, Doba, Dobah Abor, Gallong Abor, Galong, Gallong Adi, etc. The Galo have been listed as a scheduled tribe under the name Gallong since 1950. Recently, the Galo have successfully lobbied to change this term to Galo, reflecting the actual Galo pronunciation of this name.

Minyong people

The Minyong are a sub-group of the Adi people, a tribal people living in Arunachal Pradesh, India. The Minyong are found in East Siang, Upper Siang and West Siang district. They have originated from Riga Village. Their villages are mostly found on the right and left bank of river Siang (Brahmaputra), starting from Tuting-Gelling to plains of Assam, Jonai. They consider Donyi-Polo as their religion but recently there has been conversion to Christianity. Minyong people are known for their bravery as they have fought war against British Expedition to the hilly region in late 19th century. They were the strongest sub tribe of The Adis and considered as the most fearsome warriors of the hills. Like any other tribes of ADI they celebrate Solung, Aran and Etor as their festivals.

Hangpan Dada Ashoka Chakra recipient

Si-Donyi is the major festival celebrated among the Tagin tribe of Arunachal Pradesh in North-eastern India. It is celebrated majorly in district headquarter Daporijo, in adjoining town Dumporijo and in Taliha, Siyum areas, also in state capital Itanagar, while in other places also it's being celebrated by Tagin community present there. The festival was first conceptualised in the year 1975 by lt.Tatar Uli, who was the main pioneer in inception of Si-Donyi. The other members who bore the responsibilities were lt.Tadak Dulom and Popak Baghe. The festival was celebrated in the same year under their guidance, and since then, the festival Si donyi has been celebrated by the Tagin tribe. The first priest who led the ritual was Dubi Nigam. Further the name SiDonyi was suggested by Shri. Bingsa Kodak.
