Slay is an upcoming American horror comedy film written by Jimmi Simpson and directed by Kyra Elise Gardner. Starring Zoey Luna, Aya Cash, Malina Weissman, Sean Giambrone, and Shawnee Smith, the plot follows seven high school seniors who are being targeted and murdered one weekend.
The film marks Kyra Elise Gardner's directorial narrative feature debut. It was written by Jimmi Simpson, from a story by Zoey Luna. Simpson stated that his inspiration for Slay was "that moment in adolescence where you realize your friends know how to hurt you better than anyone else. Slay lives right there— but with sick music, jokes and stabbings". [2] Tony Gardner, Gardner's father and a FX designer, also worked on the film. [1]
Principal photography took place in Columbus, Ohio and was completed in mid-2024. [2] As of June 2025, a Kickstarter campaign was created to help raise funds to complete post-production. [3]
