Slingshot 57 was a Christian rock band from Lincoln, Illinois, United States, which was formed in 1999. [1] They played 450 shows in 23 states.[ when? ] The name was inspired by the Biblical story of David and Goliath and Psalm 57.
Slingshot 57 originated from Lincoln Christian College and gained a following in central Illinois. [2] They received heavy national radio airplay[ citation needed ] in 2001–02 with their single "Everyday". They recorded two full-length albums, performed with several major label acts, and had songs played on three consecutive seasons of MTV's The Real World . [3] The band toured nationally with CIY Believe Conferences (also original band) and played festivals, state fairs and teen conventions, from bars to churches, parties to high school auditoriums. [2]
In 2003, four of the members left to pursue other ministries. Kirk Bolen went to St. Charles, Missouri, to become a worship minister. Ross Drennan went to Springfield to become a children's minister. Matt Harris is now[ when? ] in Colorado as a campus minister. Gabe Rutledge is a Bible teacher in Springfield. A new line-up included Nash Bruce (guitar, vocals), Neill Nation (guitar), Paul Stewart (bass guitar) and Nick McNeely (drums, vocals).
In June 2005, McNeely left the band, with Nation following in April 2006; both joined the rock band Bastian. After they left Daniel Bishop was recruited to play drums, Tim Wilson was added as the band's new bass guitarist and Stewart moved to rhythm guitar.
Slingshot 57 played their final show on November 17, 2007, in Mahomet, Illinois, with the bands The Switch and Dear Future.

Bloomington is a city in and the county seat of McLean County, Illinois, United States. The Lincoln Service is a 284-mile (457 km) higher-speed rail service operated by Amtrak that runs between Chicago, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri. The train is a part of the Illinois Service and is partially funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The train uses the same route as the long-distance Texas Eagle, which continues to San Antonio and Los Angeles. National Weather Service Lincoln, Illinois also known as National Weather Service Central Illinois is a weather forecast office responsible for monitoring weather conditions for 35 counties in Central and Southeastern Illinois. The Central Illinois office initially consisted of two forecast offices in Peoria and Springfield until the current location in Lincoln became the sole local forecast office in 1995. Federal meteorology offices and stations in the region date back to the 19th century when the Army Signal Service began taking weather observations using weather equipment at the Springer Building in Springfield. Since that time the presence of the National Weather Service greatly increased with the installation of new weather radars, stations and forecast offices. The current office in Lincoln maintains a WSR-88D (NEXRAD) radar system, and Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) that greatly improve forecasting in the region. Lincoln is in charge of weather forecasts, warnings and local statements as well as aviation weather.
The Big Twelve Conference is a high school athletic conference in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA), based in Central Illinois. While the name implies that the conference has twelve schools, there are actually only eleven schools currently active, due to other schools either closing, ending offering varsity athletics, or changing conferences.
Peter Harold Christofilakos is a former professional American football kicker. He attended the University of Illinois and was a soccer team player. He was a member of the Bloomington Extreme/Edge and Arizona Rattlers.
