Small World was a children's animated anthology show and variety show, which aired on Sunday mornings on Cartoon Network beginning in the late 1990s, as a showcase of foreign animated series for children which had otherwise been disregarded by U.S. networks in the past, alongside special weekday episode airings.

Much of the programming came from Europe, with the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, and Sweden providing noteworthy content. [1] [2] [3] Programs from the United Kingdom was especially common since it did not need to be translated.

Using pre-existing foreign programming on Small World made it generally cheaper to broadcast than new U.S. cartoons. For international versions of Small World, some North American programs were included, especially those from public broadcasting. [4]

The show ran on Cartoon Network from 1996 to 2002.[ citation needed ] It ran for an hour-long block as part of a preschool-focused programming on Sunday mornings. [1] [2] In Asia and Oceania, the show was also aired on Cartoon Network Asia. Until 2006, Small World was aired in Latin America and Brazil on Cartoon Network.
