Minute by Minute is the eighth studio album by American rock band The Doobie Brothers, released on December 1, 1978 by Warner Bros. Records. It was their first without Tom Johnston as a full-fledged member of the band, and would be the last to include members Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and John Hartman.
No Protection is the second album by Starship, released in 1987. The album featured the hit single "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now", and the Top 10 hit "It's Not Over ", the former of which was included on the soundtrack of the fantasy comedy movie Mannequin and the latter of which was a tune originally performed the previous year by one-time Manfred Mann's Earth Band frontman Chris Thompson for Playing for Keeps soundtrack. This was the last album to be produced for Grunt Records, and the final Starship album to feature Grace Slick on vocals; she left Starship in 1988 and rejoined Jefferson Airplane for their reunion tour and self-titled reunion album, Jefferson Airplane in 1989. The Diane Warren-penned ballad "Set the Night to Music" would become a hit four years later in 1991, as a duet between R&B legend Roberta Flack and reggae singer Maxi Priest, as released from Flack's album Set the Night to Music.
Victim of Love, released in 1979, is the thirteenth studio album release for Elton John. It is a disco album, released shortly after the peak of disco's popularity. It was not critically or commercially well-received, and is Elton John's third lowest charting album to date in the US, after 1986's Leather Jackets and 1985's Ice on Fire.
A Decade of Steely Dan is a compilation album by Steely Dan, released in 1985. It was the band's first compilation specifically for the compact disc market, and was certified a gold record by the RIAA.

Headed for the Future is the seventeenth studio album released by Neil Diamond in 1986. The album went to number 20 on the Billboard 200 and also heralded a return to the pop charts, when the uptempo, keyboard-heavy title track, "Headed for the Future" reached #53. "Love Power" is a 1987 song written by Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager and performed by Dionne Warwick and Jeffrey Osborne. The single was included on Warwick's album, Reservations for Two, and was her sixth No. 1 hit on the Adult Contemporary chart. The track reached No. 11 on the Cash Box Top 100 and No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was her final appearance in the 'Top 40' of the U.S. Pop Singles chart.
Reservations for Two is an album by Dionne Warwick, her eighth for the Arista label. It was recorded during the spring of 1987 and was released that summer. The LP was originally issued as number AL-8446 in the Arista Catalog, peaking at #57 on the Billboard album chart and selling 400,000 US copies. The album is now out-of-print.
Once in a While is an album by American pop singer Johnny Mathis that was released on May 23, 1988, by Columbia Records and found him returning to the practice of covering contemporary hits but also mixing in lesser-known songs already recorded by other artists along with a few new ones.
In the Still of the Night is an album by American pop singer Johnny Mathis that was released on August 8, 1989, by Columbia Records and continues the trend that began with his 1986 collaboration with Henry Mancini, The Hollywood Musicals, in that the project is devoted to a specific theme that ties the songs together. Mathis hints at the theme for this album in the liner notes for his 1993 box set The Music of Johnny Mathis: A Personal Collection, where he gives his thoughts on the 1964 Little Anthony and the Imperials song "I'm on the Outside Looking In" that he covered for his 1988 album Once in a While: "That was group singers' kind of material. I was singing other stuff. It wasn't the picture of the lone crooner standing in the spotlight. That's what I was doing when all this other stuff was going on. I never listened to it until it was brought to my attention by [that album's producers] Peter Bunetta and Rick Chudacoff." Mathis chose to continue his work with Bunetta and Chudacoff on this project, which focuses on "this other stuff" that Mathis refers to: pop and R&B hits from the 1950s and 1960s.
We'll Sing in the Sunshine is the tenth studio album by Australian-American pop singer Helen Reddy that was released in 1978 by Capitol Records. The album included two songs that were also covered by Johnny Mathis in the first half of that year: "All I Ever Need", which came out on his March release, You Light Up My Life, and "Ready or Not", on which he duetted with Deniece Williams for their June release, That's What Friends Are For. Reddy also ventures into Beatles territory with their rockabilly number "One After 909" and takes on Jeff Lynne's "Poor Little Fool" with accompaniment in the vein of Electric Light Orchestra. This was her first album that did not reach Billboard's Top LP's & Tapes chart. On February 23, 2010, it was released for the first time on compact disc as one of two albums on one CD, the other album being her 1977 release, Ear Candy.
