Sneha Soren (born 2001) is a woman weightlifter from India. [1] She won her first international medal at the 2017 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships held at Gold Coast, Australia, [2] and she received a bronze medal at the 2023 National Games. [3] Soren received the Ekalavya Award from the Government of Odisha. [4] [5]

Personal life

Sneha Soren was born at Sikharghati of Mayurbhanj, Odisha, near Betnoti, to Bada and Chhita Soren. She completed her schooling from Krushna Chnadrapur New Govt High School and intermediate from Sriram Chandra Bhanj Junior College Ragdha Mayurbhanj. She is studying for her Bachelor of Arts degree at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology. [1]

She won the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the Women's 49 kg category. Mirabai Chanu has won the World Championships and multiple medals at the Commonwealth Games. She was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her contributions to the sport. She was awarded the sporting honour Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna by the Government of India in 2018.

Mabia Akhter Simanta is a Bangladeshi weightlifter. She was born in Madaripur. She won gold medal in the women's 63 kg weight class at the 2016 South Asian Games at Guwahati. She also won a gold in youth section and two silver medals in senior & juniors section in the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in Pune, India in October 2015 in the women's 63 kg category. She lifted a total weight of 176 kg in winning the gold medal.

Sara Samir Elsayed Mohamed Ahmed is an Egyptian weightlifter who won a bronze medal in the women's 69 kg event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She won the gold medal in the women's 76 kg event at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships held in Bogotá, Colombia. Originally from the Ismailia Governorate, Ahmed was encouraged to take part in weightlifting by her family and was competing internationally by 2012. Eileen Floanna Maria Cikamatana is an Australian weightlifter who previously represented Fiji. She competed in the women's 90 kg event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, winning the gold medal. Cikamatana was named 2017 Fiji's sportswoman of the year, but was controversially omitted from consideration for the 2018 Fiji sports awards following her gold medal winning performance at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
