She participated at the 2018 World Modern Pentathlon Championships, winning a medal. [2]

The New Republic Party is a Costa Rican Christian-conservative political party founded on 20 October 2018. The party was founded after the resignation of the evangelical singer and journalist Fabricio Alvarado Muñoz from the Christian party National Restoration for disagreements with the Executive Committee chaired by Congressman Carlos Avendaño. Alvarado was the latter's presidential candidate in the 2018 elections of major significance, since he was the most voted in the first round with 25% of the votes, qualifying for the run-off, but was defeated by the Citizen's Action Party nominee Carlos Alvarado Quesada.

Sofia Kenin defeated Garbiñe Muguruza in the final, 4–6, 6–2, 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2020 Australian Open. It was her first major title. Kenin was the youngest Australian Open finalist since Ana Ivanovic and the youngest champion since Maria Sharapova, both in 2008. This was the first Australian Open final in the Open Era to be contested between two players ranked outside the top ten, and the first such major final since the 2018 US Open. Kenin entered the top 10 in rankings for the first time by winning the title.

The Phillip Island Trophy was a new addition to the WTA Tour in 2021.
