Sohail Hashmi is an oral historian of Delhi, social activist, film-maker and heritage conservationist. [1] [2] [3]

Career

Hashmi conducts immersive Delhi Heritage Walks which are aimed at introducing citizens, particularly children, to their city. [4] [5] He incorporates history of people, culture, food and architecture of Delhi in these walks. [6] [7] He won a Heritage Award from INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) Delhi Chapter in 2022 for his walks. [8]

Hashmi is the author of a book Sanchi: Where Tigers Fly and Lions Have Horns. It is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of India Series. [1]

Hashmi is a social activist with NGOs Act Now for Harmony and Democracy (ANHAD) and SafdarHashmi Memorial Trust (SAHMAT). [1]

Hashmi is a linguist and advocates maintaining the popularity of diversity of Indian languages. [9]

Hashmi advocates preservation of heritage and history when development and revamping projects are undertaken. [10] [11]

Bulu Imam is an environmental activist working for the protection of tribal culture and heritage in Jharkhand. On 12 June 2012, he received the Gandhi International Peace Award, 2011 at the House of Lords in London. He is also a recipient of the Padma Shri (2019). He is the grandson of Syed Hasan Imam, who was a leading Barrister and Judge of Calcutta High Court (1912–1916), and the President of the Indian National Congress. Patna Collectorate or Patna district Collector is administrative head office of Collector of Patna district in Patna, Bihar, India. It is on the bank of river Ganges, close to Gandhi Maidan. It is in the style of Dutch architecture and British architecture and is over 200-year-old building complex. In 2008, the Collectorate was listed as heritage building by the Government of Bihar. In 2016, the government proposed its demolition and replacement with a new office complex. The Indian Supreme Court dismissed petitions from the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, a heritage organisation, to stay the demolition in May 2022, and the complex began to be razed the following day.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Palika Kendra</span> 21-story building in New Delhi, India

The Palika Kendra is a 21-story building on Sansad Marg, New Delhi, India. Designed by Kuldip Singh and Mahendra Raj, it is among the few structures in Delhi that feature Brutalist architecture. After its inauguration in 1984 with a height of 91 metres (299 ft), it remained one of the tallest buildings in Delhi for years. It serves as the headquarters of the New Delhi Municipal Council and hosts the main server and the command and control centre of the civic body.

Mohammad Saleem Beg is an Indian art conservator, historian and columnist. He is working to conserve / preserve the artworks, architecture, archaeology, besides museum collections mainly connected to Kashmir heritage. He prepared the research dossier of seven crafts include papier-mache, pashmina, Khatamband, Woodwork, Pinjrakari (latticework), Ari and Metal craft which placed the Srinagar city of Jammu and Kashmir in the list of UNESCO creative cities network for 2021, in the field of craft and folk art.
