The Solano County Library is a public library system serving the cities of Dixon, Fairfield, Rio Vista, Suisun City, Vacaville and Vallejo, California. The library system consists of nine public libraries, the Solano County Law Library, and the Solano County Library Adult Literacy Program. The city of Benicia, California, while located in Solano County, has a public library that is not a part of the Solano County Library system. It is a partner of the Solano Partner Libraries & St. Helena (SPLASH) Consortium.

The Solano County Library was established in 1914 by the county's board of supervisors. For its first two decades of service the library collection was kept in various locations until a permanent building was constructed for library use in 1931. [3]

The city is located along the north bank of the Carquinez Strait. Benicia is just east of Vallejo and across the strait from Martinez. Steve Young, elected in November 2020, is the mayor.

SolanoExpress is a public transit network of regional express buses connecting Solano County, California to Contra Costa County and the Sacramento Valley. It is managed by the Solano Transportation Authority and operated by Fairfield and Suisun Transit (FAST) and SolTrans. The Solano Transportation Authority is a joint powers authority established in 1990 by Solano County and the cities of Benicia, Dixon, Fairfield, Rio Vista, Suisun City, Vacaville, and Vallejo to serve as the Congestion Management Agency for Solano County, as mandated by California law.

SolTrans Transportation service in Solano County, California

SolTrans, officially Solano County Transit, is a Joint Powers Authority that provides public transportation service to the southern Solano County cities of Vallejo and Benicia. SolTrans was established in 2011 and is the result of a merger between Vallejo Transit and Benicia Breeze. In 2021, the system had a ridership of 477,400, or about 1,900 per weekday as of the first quarter of 2022.

Sutter Solano Medical Center (SSMC) is a 106-bed general acute care hospital located in Vallejo, California, the largest city in Solano County and second largest city in the North Bay. It is part of Sutter Health.
