History
The first station in the area of present-day town of Solingen was built with the opening of the Gruiten-Cologne-Mülheim railway by the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company. [3] The station opened on 25 September 1867 and was named Ohligs Wald ("Ohligs forest"). [4] That same year a branch line to Solingen was built from this station. [5] In 1890, the Wald part of the name was dropped and with the incorporation of Ohligs into Solingen in 1929, the station was renamed Solingen-Ohligs. [4] In 1894, the line from Hilden was opened. [6]
The importance of the Solingen-Ohligs station always exceeded that of the other stations in Solingen, including the old Solingen Hauptbahnhof, since only Ohligs station is located on a main line. Consequently, it was the stopping point for long-distance traffic. This factor lead to the discussion of renaming this station to Hauptbahnhof and giving the Hauptbahnhof a new name. These discussions, however, never came to a conclusion, so the station kept its name until the end of 2006. With the decommissioning of the old Hauptbahnhof in May 2006, Solingen-Ohligs station was renamed as Solingen Hauptbahnhof on 10 December 2006. [4]

Neuss Central Station is the railway station for the city of Neuss in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The main station building is built on a platform between the tracks and it is located at the junction of the Lower Left Rhine Railway and the Mönchengladbach–Düsseldorf railway. These lines also connect with the Düren–Neuss railway and the Neuss–Viersen railway; the latter has ended since 1984 at Kaarster See station and is operated by the private Regiobahn company.
Line S1 is a S-Bahn line on the Rhine-Ruhr network. It is operated by DB Regio. It runs from Dortmund via Bochum and Essen to Duisburg. From there it travels south to Düsseldorf and Hilden before continuing to Solingen. It is operated on weekdays at 15-minute intervals between Dortmund Hbf and Essen Hbf, at 20-minute intervals between Düsseldorf Hbf and Solingen and at 30-minute intervals between Düsseldorf and Essen, using coupled sets of class 422 four-car electrical multiple units.
Line S7 is an S-Bahn service on the Rhine-Ruhr network in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, between Wuppertal and Solingen. The line has been operated by Vias since 15 December 2013 at 20-minute intervals, using Alstom Coradia LINT 41 diesel multiple unit vehicles.
Mülheim (Ruhr) Hauptbahnhof is a railway station for the city of Mülheim in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It was renamed as a Hauptbahnhof in 1974 at the time of the rebuilding of the Dortmund–Duisburg line as part of the establishment of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn. The line and the station were opened on 15 September 1879. It was originally called Mettmann, but was renamed to its current name on 26 September 1999. The line is served by line S 28 of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn.

Mettmann Zentrum station is a Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn station in the town of Mettmann in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It was opened in 1953 on the last section of the Düsseldorf-Derendorf–Dortmund Süd railway from Mettmann station to the Rhenish Railway Company's Düsseldorf station. It was opened in 1953 as Mettmann West station and given its current name on 26 September 1999.
