Somasunadaran Skandakumar is a Sri Lankan business executive and diplomat. He was the Group Chairman of the George Steuart Group and Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Australia.
Educated at Royal Primary School and Royal College Colombo, where he was a senior prefect and won the Best Performance Award at the Royal–Thomian in 1966. He graduated from the University of Ceylon Colombo in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science with Double Mathematics and Chemistry, winning the Most Outstanding Sportsman award in 1970. He joined Whittalls Estates as an executive in 1971 then joined George Steuart & Co in 1974 as an executive and then was promoted as a director 1984. In 1997, he became the Managing Director serving till 2000, when he became Group Chairman, serving till 2008. He had served in the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka as assistant secretary, secretary and vice president. A club level cricketer, he played for the Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club and served as its President from 1998 to 2000. In August 2015 he was appointed High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Australia with concurrently accredited to Fiji, New Zealand and Solomon Islands. [1] [2]
Sri Lankabhimanya Karu Jayasuriya is a Sri Lankan politician. He was the Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka. Karunasena Kodituwakku is a Sri Lankan politician, academic and diplomat. He was the Sri Lankan ambassador to China, and non-resident ambassador to Mongolia and North Korea. He was the former Sri Lankan Cabinet Minister of Education, Human Resources Development and Cultural Affairs and the third governor of the North Western Province of Sri Lanka. He also served as the vice chancellor of University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Sri Lankan ambassador to Japan and Republic of Korea.
General Deshamanya Don Sepala Attygalle, was a Sri Lankan army officer, civil servant and diplomat. The longest serving Commander of the Sri Lankan Army (1967–1977), he went on to serve as the Permanent secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Sri Lankan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
Hamilton Shirley Amerasinghe, CCS was a Sri Lankan diplomat and civil servant. He was High Commissioner to India and concurrently Ambassador to both Nepal and Afghanistan (1963–1967) and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury and the Ministry of Health. Amerasinghe served as Ceylon's Permanent Representative to the United Nations 1967 to 1980 and served as President of the United Nations General Assembly in 1976. He was also one of the leaders of the negotiations to draft the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
