Songi Han is an American chemist who is a professor in the department of chemistry and biochemistry at Northwestern University. Her research considers electron and nuclear spins as sensors and detectors. She was elected a Fellow of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in 2019 and president of the International EPR Society in 2020.
Han attended the University of Cologne as an undergraduate, where she majored in chemistry. [1] She moved to the RWTH Aachen University, where she investigated magnetic resonance. She was awarded the Ampere Society Raymond Andrew Prize in 2002. [2]
Han has pioneered the use of spin based approaches (including electron paramagnetic resonance, Nuclear magnetic resonance and relaxometry, to understand the structure-property relationships of biomolecules. Her work on dynamic nuclear polarization has enabled new probes for monitoring biological processes. [3] This allows for the mapping of surface water differences around globular proteins. [4]

He is Professor of Biochemistry and Jules Stein Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, Los Angeles. His research focuses on the visual system, and is primarily supported by a grant from the National Eye Institute.

Frances Separovic is a biophysical chemist and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at the University of Melbourne, where she taught physical chemistry and trained graduate students in her field. She is credited with developing techniques that utilise nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) to study peptides in lipid bilayers, with applications in the study of the structure of membrane proteins and their effects on membranes. Her more recent research concerns 'the structure and interactions of amyloid peptides from Alzheimer's disease, pore-forming toxins and antibiotic peptides in model biological membranes'.
James S. Hyde was an American biophysicist. He held the James S. Hyde chair in Biophysics at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) where he specialized in magnetic resonance instrumentation and methodology development in two distinct areas: electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). He is senior author of the widely cited 1995 paper by B.B. Biswal et al. reporting the discovery of resting state functional connectivity (fcMRI) in the human brain. He also served as Director of the National Biomedical EPR Center, a Research Resource supported by the National Institutes of Health. He was author of more than 400 peer-reviewed papers and review articles and held 35 U.S. Patents. He was recognized by Festschrifts in both EPR and fcMRI.

He is a fellow of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance and of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. R. David Britt is the Winston Ko Chair and Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at the University of California, Davis. Britt uses electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy to study metalloenzymes and enzymes containing organic radicals in their active sites. Britt is the recipient of multiple awards for his research, including the Bioinorganic Chemistry Award in 2019 and the Bruker Prize in 2015 from the Royal Society of Chemistry. He has received a Gold Medal from the International EPR Society (2014), and the Zavoisky Award from the Kazan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2018). He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Hans-Wolfgang Spiess, also Hans Wolfgang Spiess, is a German polymer chemist who specializes in the Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy of macromolecules. He was director of the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz until his retirement in 2012.
