Plateau State is a north central Nigerian state. It is located near the centre of Nigeria and includes a range of hills surrounding the Jos Plateau. Plateau State is described as "The Home of Peace and Tourism". The state has a population of around 4.7 million people. Its capital city is Jos.

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) is a federal university in Ile-Ife,Osun State,Nigeria. The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) is a Federal higher institution located in Maiduguri,the capital city of Borno State in Northeast Nigeria. The university was created by the federal government of Nigeria in 1975,with the intention of its becoming one of the country's principal higher-education institutions. It enrolls about 25,000 students in its combined programs,which include a college of medicine and faculties of agriculture,arts,environmental science,Allied health science,Basic medical science,dentistry,education,engineering,law,management science,pharmacy,science,social science,and veterinary medicine. With the encouragement of the federal government,the university has recently been increasing its research efforts,particularly in the fields of agriculture,medicine and conflict resolution,and expanding the university press. The university is the major higher institution of learning in the north-eastern part of the country.
Chief (Dr.) Solomon Daushep Lar was a Nigerian politician who has held various offices at the National level for over 50 years. He was a member of the first national parliament when Nigeria gained independence in 1960. He was elected governor of Plateau State on the Nigerian People's Party (NPP) platform during the Nigerian Second Republic,holding office from October 1979 until the Military coup of 31 December 1983 that brought General Muhammadu Buhari to power. Ochapa Onazi was educated at the Boys’Secondary School,Gindiri,and the Nigerian College of Arts,Science and Technology,Zaria. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Master of Science (MSc) from the University of London and a Diploma from Imperial College (DIC) London. Ochapa Onazi graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Agricultural Education from Kansas State University,United States of America (USA),where he was supervised by Professor Robert Johnson.

Prof Sebastian Maimako is a Nigerian academic and professor of accounting and finance. He was the 9th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos. He was appointed by the Governing Council of the university to succeed Professor Hayward Mafuyai and was in office from 23 June 2016,until 23 June 2021,after finishing five years as a Vice-Chancellor. He was regarded as one of the best Vice-Chancellor the University Community will ever have.

The 2019 Plateau State gubernatorial election in Nigeria occurred on March 9,2019. Incumbent APC Governor Simon Lalong won re-election for a second term,defeating PDP Jerry Useni and several minor party candidates.
The 2015 Plateau State gubernatorial election occurred on April 11,2015. APC's Simon Lalong won election for a first term,defeating Gyang Pwajok of the PDP and four minor party candidates. Lalong won in 11 LGAs,receiving 51.83% of the vote,while Pwajok won the remaining six of the 17 LGAs of the state,receiving 47.76% of the total votes,trailing behind Lalong with 44,386 votes margin.
The 2023 Plateau State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023,to elect the Governor of Plateau State,concurrent with elections to the Plateau State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Simon Lalong is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
The Ahmadu Bello University is a public research university located in Zaria,Kaduna State,Nigeria. It was opened in 1962 as the University of Northern Nigeria.
Tanko Ishaya is a Nigerian Professor of Computer Science and the vice chancellor of the University of Jos. He was appointed into office in December 2021.
