Cluj-Napoca,or simply Cluj,is a city in northwestern Romania. It is the second-most populous city in the country and the seat of Cluj County. Geographically,it is roughly equidistant from Bucharest,Budapest and Belgrade. Located in the Someșul Mic river valley,the city is considered the unofficial capital of the historical province of Transylvania. For some decades prior to the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867,it was the official capital of the Grand Principality of Transylvania.

Emil Boc is a Romanian politician who was Prime Minister of Romania from 22 December 2008 until 6 February 2012 and is the current mayor of Cluj-Napoca,the largest city of Transylvania,where he was first elected in July 2004. Boc was also the president of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL),which proposed and supported him as Prime Minister in late 2008,from December 2004 until July 2012.

Mărgău is a commune in Cluj County,Transylvania,Romania. It is composed of six villages:Bociu (Bocs),Buteni (Kalotabökény),Ciuleni (Incsel),Mărgău,Răchițele (Havasrekettye) and Scrind-Frăsinet (Kőrizstető).
Parliamentary elections were held in Romania on 30 November 2008. The Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) won three more seats than PSD in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate,although the alliance headed by the Social Democratic Party (PSD) won more votes and a fractionally higher vote share. The two parties subsequently formed a governing coalition with Emil Boc of the PDL as Prime Minister.
Presidential elections were held in Romania in 2009. They were the sixth presidential elections held in post-1989 Romania. The first round took place on 22 November,with a run-off round between the top two candidates Traian Băsescu and Mircea Geoanăon 6 December 2009. Although most exit polls suggested a victory for Geoanăin the runoff,the authorities declared Băsescu the narrow winner with 50.33% of the votes. To date,it is the closest presidential election in the political history of Romania.
Daniel Marian Vanghelie is a Romanian politician,the former mayor of the 5th Sector of Bucharest (2000–2016) and a former member of the Romanian Social Democratic Party (PSD). He ran for a fifth term in 2016 as an independent but was defeated by social-democratic candidate Daniel Florea. Vanghelie came in 3rd place,receiving fewer votes than both the social democratic candidate and the liberal candidate,Ovidiu Raețchi.

The party was formed on 15 December 2007,when the Democratic Party (PD) merged with the Liberal Democratic Party (PLD). On 17 November 2014 the PDL officially merged into the National Liberal Party (PNL),ceasing to exist. The PDL was associated with Traian Băsescu,who was previously leader of the PD and President of Romania from 2004 to 2014.
Cătălin Marian Predoiu is a Romanian lawyer who served as the ad interim Prime Minister of Romania from 12 June to 15 June 2023,following the resignation of Nicolae Ciucă,having previously served from 6 February to 9 February 2012,following the resignation of Emil Boc. He had previously been the Minister of Justice of Romania since 29 February 2008.

Elena Gabriela Udrea is a Romanian politician. An independent who held office while in the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) and then the People's Movement Party (PMP),she was a member of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies from 2008 to 2016. In successive Emil Boc cabinets,she served as Tourism Minister from 2008 to 2009 and as Regional Development and Tourism Minister from 2009 to 2012. Sentenced to six years in prison for corruption offenses,she sought asylum in Costa Rica in 2018. The following year,she gave up the asylum claim and returned to Romania,where she is currently serving her sentence.
Gabriel Sandu is a Romanian economist and politician. A member of the Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L),he was a member of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies for Brăila County from 2004 to 2008. In the Emil Boc cabinet,he was Minister of Communications and Information Society from 2008 to 2010,also serving as interim Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises,Commerce and Business Environment in late 2009.
Sorina Bucuraș,better known as Sorina-Luminița Plăcintă,is a Romanian engineer and politician. A member of the National Liberal Party and formerly of the Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L),she was a member of the Romanian Senate for Vrancea County from 2008 to 2012. In the Emil Boc cabinet,she was Minister of Youth and Sport from July to December 2009,and interim Minister-Delegate for Relations with Parliament from October to December 2009.
The 2010 Supercupa României was the 12th edition of Romania's season opener cup competition. The match was played in Cluj-Napoca at Dr. Constantin Rădulescu on 18 July 2010,and was contested between Liga I title holders and Supercup defending champions,CFR Cluj and Liga I runners-up,FC Unirea Urziceni. This was the first edition of the Supercup to face the Liga I winners and the league's runners-up,since CFR won the double in 2010. The new format of the competition,in which the double winner plays the league runner-up at home ground was proposed and adopted by Romanian Football Federation the same year.
The 2012 Romanian protests were a series of protests and civil manifestations triggered by the introduction of new health reform legislation. In particular,President Traian Băsescu criticized the Deputy Minister of Health,Raed Arafat,on a Romanian television broadcast. The protests became violent,with both protesters and members of the Gendarmerie sustaining injuries during their clashes.
There were numerous protests against the Romanian Government between 2017 and 2019. In January 2017,days after the government of the Grindeanu Cabinet was sworn into office in Romania,protests took place throughout the country against ordinance bills that were proposed by the Romanian Ministry of Justice regarding the pardoning of certain committed crimes,and the amendment of the Penal Code of Romania. At the heart of these protests is the community Corruption Kills,founded by Florin Bădiță,who alongside other civic groups organized what proved to be the largest protests since 1989,thus realizing the "Revolution of our generation".
The Cluj-Napoca Metro is an underground rapid-transit system under construction in Cluj-Napoca,Romania. When opened,it will become Romania's second mass transit network after the Bucharest Metro. The system is of light metro type with a transport capacity of around 15,200–21,600 passengers per hour per direction.
