Sosweawon or Sosaewon is a typical Korean garden of the middle Joseon Dynasty. It is located in the Nam-myeon,Damyang County of the South Jeolla Province,South Korea.
This garden harmonizes with nature in characteristic traditional Korean style. Clean waters in the valley flow below the wall and fall through the small cataract into the lake. This place can be said to be a cultivating house of scholar spirit in that many Confucian scholars discussed academic subjects and wrote their works here.
Soswaewon was originally constructed by Yang San-bo (양산보) from the end of 1520 through the middle of 1530. Yang gave up his government position after his teacher,Jo Gwang-jo (1482 - 1519) was exiled and then killed in the purge of 1519 called Gimyo sahwa (기묘사화). [1] So Yang made this garden to seclude himself from social position. The part of the garden was burnt down during the Japanese invasions of Korea (1592–1598),but the buildings were reconstructed by his descendants,and the present Sosweawon was renovated by Yang Taek-ji[ citation needed ],Yang san-bo[ citation needed ]'s descendant in the fifth generation. An 18th-century map of Sosweawon[ citation needed ] remains. It is carved on wood in the 31st year of King Yeongjo (1755),and shows the original design of the garden.
Jewol Pavilion is a house for the host and means "bright moon after raining".
Gwangpung Pavilion is a house for guests and means "bright sun and fresh wind after raining".
Daebong Pavilion is located at high hill of Sosweawon. It means the luck of phoenix is regarded as the good news.

Mudeungsan has an elevation of 1,187 m (3,894 ft) and is a part of Mudeungsan National Park which gained national park status in 2012. The peak of Mudeungsan is named Cheonwang summit,but it has been designated as a protection zone for air force military installations. Therefore the highest spot the climbers can ascend without special permission is Seoseokdae Rock,with an elevation of 1,100 m (3,600 ft).

Hwanbyeokdang or Hwanbyeokdang Pavilion is a garden pavilion,located in the neighborhood of Chunghyo-dong,Buk-gu of Gwangju,near Damyang County in South Jeolla Province of South Korea. It was built by Sachon on the hill behind his house. Hwanbyeokdang was named 'Hwanbyeokdang' by Sinjam,and a rough translation is 'a place surrounded by green trees and water.' It was also previously called "Byeokgandang" (벽간당).
The term "Literati purges" is a translation of the Korean term 'sahwa',whose literal meaning is "scholars' calamity". It refers to a series of political purges in the late 15th and 16th centuries,in which Sarim scholars suffered persecution at the hands of their political rivals.
The rebellion of Jeong Yeo-rip in 1589,known in Korean as the Gichuk oksa,was one of the bloodiest political purges in Korea's Joseon Dynasty. Its scale was greater than all four of the notorious literati purges combined. At that time Joseon politics was dominated by conflict between Eastern and Western factions. Neo-Confucian scholar and Easterner Jeong Yeo-rip was accused of high treason,after which as many as 1,000 Easterners were killed or exiled.
Mochou Lake is located west of the Qinhuai River and Hanzhongmen Gate in Nanjing,inside Mochou Lake Park. The lake is named after Mochou,a legendary woman known for her beauty,versatility,virtue and loyalty. It was named Hengtang in ancient times,and also known as Stone City Lake. The lake park was owned by Zhu Yuanzhang,the first emperor of Ming dynasty,and bestowed to his general Xu Da. Since then,it has become a famous garden best known for its two-storied Shenggi Pavilion.
