Soumini Jain is an Indian politician. She served as the mayor of Cochin Corporation [1] between 2015 and 2020. She belongs to the Congress. [2] On the council,Soumini represented the municipal corporation's 36th division (Elamkulam).
Soumini Jain was born in Ravipuram,Ernakulam,Kochi in a top Hindu Nair family. She is the daughter of P K Menon. She received a graduation degree from the Sacred Heart College,Thevara and did her Masters in Economics from Kerala University. She has married a businessman Jain [3] and they are the parents of Padmini Jain and Varun Jain. [4] [5]
Soumini Jain was put forward as a candidate to be mayor in 2015. The mayor would normally serve for a term of five years. [6]

Coimbatore,sometimes shortened as Kovai,is one of the major metropolitan cities in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located on the banks of the Noyyal River and surrounded by the Western Ghats. INS Viraat was a Centaur-class light aircraft carrier of the Indian Navy. INS Viraat was the flagship of the Indian Navy until INS Vikramaditya was commissioned in 2013. The ship was completed and commissioned in 1959 as the Royal Navy's HMS Hermes,and decommissioned in 1984. It was sold to India in 1987. The Kochi Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Kochi and the wider Kochi Metropolitan Region in Kerala,India. It was opened to the public within four years of starting construction,making it one of the fastest completed metro projects in India. The Kochi metro project is the first metro system in the country which connects rail,road and water transport facilities. It is also the first metro rail system in India to be operated using the Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling system,which requires minimum human intervention. The Kochi Water Metro is integrated with the Kochi Metro,which serves as a feeder service to the suburbs along the rivers where transport accessibility is limited.
The 2011 census of India or the 15th Indian census was conducted in two phases,house listing and population enumeration. The House listing phase began on 1 April 2010 and involved the collection of information about all buildings. Information for National Population Register (NPR) was also collected in the first phase,which will be used to issue a 12-digit unique identification number to all registered Indian residents by Unique Identification Authority of India. The second population enumeration phase was conducted between 9 and 28 February 2011. Census has been conducted in India since 1872 and 2011 marks the first time biometric information was collected. According to the provisional reports released on 31 March 2011,the Indian population increased to 1.21 billion with a decadal growth of 17.70%. Adult literacy rate increased to 74.04% with a decadal growth of 9.21%. The motto of the census was Our Census,Our Future.
