The 2020 South African Hip Hop Awards took place on December 12, 2020 and were the 9th edition of the South African Hip Hop Awards. The ceremony celebrates achievements in entertainment and honors music. Themed "The New World Order", the theme idea came from the hard lockdown experience which resulted in people being confined at their homes, glued to their TV sets, computers and being on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram on their phones. It was held virtually due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns. [1] [2] [3]
The nominees were announced on 16 November 2020 [1] Cassper Nyovest received the most nominations with 7, ahead of Nasty C and PdotO. The ceremony was hosted by actor and presenter Uncle Vinny. [4]

The Headies is a music awards show established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. The annual ceremony features performances by established and promising artists. It is broadcast live on HipTV to viewers across Nigeria. The first and second editions of The Headies were held at the Muson Center in Onikan, Lagos State. Between 2010 and 2012, the awards were held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. Several media personalities in Nigeria have hosted the annual ceremony, including Darey Art Alade, D'banj, Dakore Egbuson, Banky W., Rita Dominic, M.I, Tiwa Savage and Dr SID.

Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi known professionally as Kwesta, is a South African rapper and songwriter. Born in Katlehong, Gauteng, a township also known as "K1". In 2003, at the age of 15, he and his friends formed a rap group Ghetto Fellaz which then changed to The Juvenylz, same year. He is currently signed to his own independent media company known as RapLyf Records with co-founder Kid X.
