The 2021 South African Hip Hop Awards took place on 10 December 2021 and were the 10th edition of the South African Hip Hop Awards. [1] The ceremony celebrates achievements in entertainment and music.

The nominees were announced on 2 November 2021 on official South African Hip Hop Awards social media pages. [2] Big Zulu lead the nominations this year with a total of 10. [3] Boity Thulo follows with 5 nominations. [4]

Kiernan Jarryd Forbes (28 January 1988 – 10 February 2023), known professionally as AKA, was a South African rapper, record producer, and businessman. Born in Cape Town and raised in Johannesburg, Forbes gained recognition after releasing his single "Victory Lap" from his debut studio album, Altar Ego (2011). Often regarded as one of the greatest South African musicians of all time, he was one of the most popular South African musicians of his era and the best-selling South African hip hop artist of all-time.

Boitumelo Thulo, popularly known as Boity, is a South African television personality, rapper, actress, businesswoman and model. In 2019, Thulo was named as one of Forbes Africa's 30 Under 30 for her contribution in the music and entertainment sector.

The 2015 South African Hip Hop Awards were held at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City Casino in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province. This marked the ceremony's 4th anniversary.

Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, known professionally as Nasty C, is a South African rapper, songwriter, and record producer.

Jabulani Hadebe, known professionally as Sjava, is a South African singer, rapper, and actor. He began his acting career in 2005, starring in several drama series and films including uGugu no Andile (2009). He then rose to prominence on the drama series Zone 14, where he starred for three consecutive seasons, Isibaya and the second season of eHostela. Sjava ventured into the music industry and signed to record label Ambitiouz Entertainment. He gained mainstream popularity after he was featured on Miss Pru's acclaimed song "Ameni" in 2015.

The 2020 South African Hip Hop Awards took place on December 12, 2020 and were the 9th edition of the South African Hip Hop Awards. The ceremony celebrates achievements in entertainment and honors music. Themed "The New World Order", the theme idea came from the hard lockdown experience which resulted in people being confined at their homes, glued to their TV sets, computers and being on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram on their phones. It was held virtually due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns.

Siyabonga Nene, known professionally as Big Zulu, is a South African rapper and songwriter. He rose to spotlight after releasing the single "Donsa Nkabi" in 2016.

"Mali Eningi" is a song recorded by South African singer-songwriter and rapper Big Zulu featuring Riky Rick and Intaba Yase Dubai. It was released as the lead single of his third studio album, Ichwane Lenyoka (2021), on November 20, 2020, by Inkabi Records.

Yanga Ntshakaza, professionally known as Yanga Chief is a South African rapper, record producer and singer-songwriter. Born in Mthatha and raised in Queenstown, Yanga studied film studies at University of Johannesburg.

"Umbayimbayi" is a debut single by South African duo Inkabi Zezwe released on March 24, 2023, through Warner Music Africa, as album's lead single from debut studio album Ukhamba. Written by Sjava, Big Zulu and production was handled by Xowla.
