Sowmya Sharma is an Indian voice actor, RJ, and a script writer who works in Telugu films. She has lent her voice for leading actresses of Telugu and Tamil cinema including Anushka Shetty, Kajal Aggarwal, Nayanthara, and Shruthi Haasan among others. Her work in Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) earned her Nandi Award for Best Female Dubbing Artist by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. [4] [5]

Sowmya is married to Telugu film director Anand Ranga [6] and lives in Hyderabad.

Career

Over the years, Sowmya has done many hats in her career. She worked as an RJ, [7] dubbing artist and currently working as a scriptwriter for OK Jaanu, America Ammayi and Chhota Bheem. [8]

As dubbing artist

Over her career as a dubbing artist, she dubbed for over 500 films and was awarded the highest award ceremony for excellence in Telugu cinema, Nandi Awards, twice. She received the first Nandi award for Lakshyam, where she lent her voice for Anushka Shetty and the second one was for the movie Mahatma in which she gave voice over for the actresses Bhavana. [9]

Bhaagamathie is a 2018 Indian horror thriller film written and directed by G. Ashok. The film stars Anushka Shetty in the title role while Jayaram, Unni Mukundan, Murali Sharma, and Asha Sarath play other pivotal roles. Shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil, the film revolves around a former district collector imprisoned in a haunted house. At the same time, she is interrogated by law enforcers investigating a politician they suspect of corruption. Principal photography commenced in June 2016 in Hyderabad, and the film was released on 26 January 2018 in Telugu and Tamil along with a dubbed Malayalam version. The film is a commercial success, grossing over ₹26 crore. With Bhaagamathie, Anushka Shetty emerged as the second Indian actress after Sridevi to have a $1 million grossed at the US box office. The film was remade in Hindi as Durgamati (2020).

The 5th South Indian International Movie Awards is an awards event held at Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore on 30 June and 1 July 2016. SIIMA 2016 will recognize the best films and performances from the past year, along with special honors for lifetime contributions and a few special awards.

Anushka Shetty is an Indian actress who appears in Telugu and Tamil films. She made her acting debut in Puri Jagannadh's 2005 Telugu film Super, and appeared in Mahanandi, released later the same year. The following year, she had four releases, the first being S. S. Rajamouli's Vikramarkudu, which helped her gain recognition, followed by Astram, the Sundar C.-directed Rendu,, and a special appearance in AR Murugadoss' Telugu film Stalin. She had two releases in 2007: Lakshyam and Don. In 2008, she appeared in six films, including Okka Magaadu, Swagatam and Souryam. In 2009, Shetty played two roles in the fantasy Arundhati. Nishabdham (transl. Silence) is a 2020 Indian Telugu-language mystery film directed by Hemant Madhukar and co-produced by Kona Venkat and T. G. Vishwa Prasad. The film stars Anushka Shetty, R. Madhavan, Michael Madsen, Anjali, Shalini Pandey and Subbaraju. Although the film was intended to have no dialogues, it was simultaneously shot in Tamil as Silence. The film is released along with the dubbed versions in Malayalam and Kannada languages, through Amazon Prime Video on 2 October 2020.
