Parvati Melton is an American model. She was a professional figure skater, ballet dancer, and classical indian dancer (Bharatanatyam). (Miss Teen India Bay Area pageant winner) turned actress of Indian German Irish, Scottish descent known for her works in Telugu and Malayalam language films. She debuted the film industry with the Telugu film Vennela (2005) starring Raja, which turned out to be a success. She acted in the Blockbuster Malayalam film Hallo with Mohanlal. [1] She again shot to fame with item song "Poovai Poovai" in Telugu movie Dookudu opposite Mahesh Babu. [2]

Biography

Parvati was born in San Francisco California to a German/Scottish father Sam Melton and an Indian Punjabi mother Preity Singh. [3] She has one younger sister Ariana Sitara Melton. [4] She is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. She graduated from Emeryville High School and attended Vista Community College in Berkeley, California. She won several beauty pageants like the Miss Teen India Bay Area pageant in 2004 and the Miss India Le Visage USA pageant in 2005. [5] While still studying in Vista College, she was offered the lead role in the Telugu film Vennela . Although she intended to go back to school after the project, the film's success kept her away. [6]

She married in 2013, and subsequently retired from films. [7]

Hallo is a 2007 Indian Malayalam-language comedy thriller film written and directed by the Rafi Mecartin duo. iT stars Mohanlal and Parvathy Melton(in her Malayalam debut), with Jagathy Sreekumar, Siddique, K. Dookudu (transl. Aggressive) is a 2011 Indian masala film directed by Srinu Vaitla and written by Vaitla, Kona Venkat, and Gopimohan. It is produced by Ram Achanta, Gopi Achanta, and Anil Sunkara under the banner 14 Reels Entertainment. The film stars Mahesh Babu, Samantha, Prakash Raj, and Sonu Sood alongside Brahmanandam who played a supporting role. The film revolves around Ajay Kumar (Babu), a police officer and son of ex-MLA Shankar Narayana (Raj), who awakes from coma, but his health remains perilous. Dookudu is the soundtrack to the 2011 film of the same name composed by S. Thaman with lyrics written by Ramajogayya Sastry, Viswa and Bhaskarabhatla Ravi Kumar. The film starring Mahesh Babu was directed by Srinu Vaitla. The six-song album was released by Aditya Music on 19 August 2011. The album was met with mixed response from critics, but fetched Thaman his maiden Filmfare Award for Best Music Director – Telugu.
