Spaceship Records (also known as Spaceship Entertainment or Spaceship), is a Nigerian based record label founded by recording artist Burna Boy, as a flagship of Spaceship Collective. The label was launched in 2015, and is home to recording acts, Nissi, and Burna Boy. It also houses producer LeriQ, and Telz. Artists formerly signed to the label, include Bnxn.

History

Spaceship Entertainment, [1] was founded on 18 February 2015 by Burna Boy. In 2020, it began to operate under the name Spaceship Records. The record label, was relaunched under Spaceship Collective, and currently holds the highest share in the company. Spaceship was established following Burna Boy's departure from Aristokrat Records, [2] a record label owned by Piriye Isokrari.

In 2020, Burna Boy signed LeriQ, [3] Nissi, and Telz to Spaceship. On 16 April 2020, Burna Boy unveiled the signing of Buju. [4]

Buju

Buju's departure surfaced after his one years deal with Spaceship expired in April 2021, [5] during his stay with the label, he released and promoted, various singles with Spaceship including "Lenu (remix)" with Burna Boy, and "So Lonely". [5]

Wizkid Nigerian singer from Lagos (born 1990)

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He began recording music at the age of 11 and released a collaborative album with the Glorious Five (5), a group he and a couple of his church friends formed. In 2009, Wizkid signed a record deal with Banky W's Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E). He later rose to the limelight after releasing "Holla at Your Boy", the lead single from his debut studio album, Superstar (2011), which also spawned the singles "Tease Me/Bad Guys" and "Don't Dull".

Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He rose to stardom in 2012 after releasing "Like to Party", the lead single from his debut studio album, L.I.F.E (2013). In 2017, Burna Boy signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the United States and Warner Music Group internationally. His third studio album, Outside, marked his major-label debut.

Eric Isaac Utere, known professionally as LeriQ, is a Nigerian record producer and songwriter. He is currently signed to Spaceship Records, through Spaceship Collective.. He achieved recognition for his work on Burna Boy's 2012 single Like To Party, and went on to produce the singer's debut album L.I.F.E (2013), and Twice as Tall (2020), which earned him an award at the 63rd Grammy ceremony.

Bose Ogulu is a Nigerian academic, businesswoman and talent manager. She manages her son Burna Boy's musical career and thus is also known as Mama Burna.

Michael Babatunde Adeyinka Also known as DJ Tunez is a Nigeria and USA based disc jockey. In 2015, DJ Tunez was asked by Wizkid to join Starboy Entertainment, as the official label DJ, DJ Tunez first production was in 2016's Iskaba, a contagious hit song with Wande Coal. <i>Twice as Tall</i> 2020 studio album by Burna Boy

Twice as Tall is the fifth studio album by Nigerian singer Burna Boy. It was released on August 14, 2020, by Spaceship Entertainment, Bad Habit, Atlantic Records and Warner Music. Recording sessions took place in 2020, with Burna Boy, American singer and songwriter Diddy and Mama Burna Bose Ogulu serving as the record's executive producers. The album is a mixture of Afrobeats, Afrobeat, dancehall, pop and hip hop. It was produced primarily by Telz, along with production from Rexxie, Timbaland and DJDS, among others. The album features guest appearances from Youssou N'Dour, Naughty by Nature, Sauti Sol, Chris Martin and Stormzy. Its lead single is "Wonderful", released on June 26, 2020.

Spaceship Collective, is a Nigerian Entertainment company, known for housing a record label and music publishing company, that is majority owned by Burna Boy imprint Spaceship Records, for owning the largest share of the company. Love, Damini is the sixth studio album by Nigerian singer Burna Boy. It was released on 8 July 2022 through Atlantic Records. The album features guest appearances from Ladysmith Black Mambazo, J Hus, Vict0ny, Popcaan, Blxst, Kehlani, Ed Sheeran, J Balvin, and Khalid. It was supported by two singles, "Kilometre" and "Last Last". The album is named after Burna Boy's legal first name and serves as the follow-up to his previous album, Twice as Tall (2020).

Nissi Ogulu, known professionally as Nissi, is a Nigerian afro-jazz singer, songwriter, fine artist and founder of Creele Animation Studios. Ogulu was born to Bose and Samuel Ogulu and is the younger sister to Nigerian Afrobeats artiste Burna Boy. She started with music at six years old and went on to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Warwick.
