Special Programs for Aging Needs (abbreviated as "SPAN", also known as "SPAN Transit", and "SPAN, INC.") is a nonprofit [3] public transit service and delivery service in Denton County, Texas.

Routes

SPAN has a route from Denton County to Dallas, Texas and Fort Worth, Texas available for Veterans to Veterans Affairs Hospitals. This route was expanded to mid-day service from a $20,000.00 USD grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. [4]

Availability

SPAN Transit offers services to any resident living in Denton County but outside of DCTA's service area. It is an on-demand shared ride service which requires an application and frequent usage. It currently only offers weekday service from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Shared Rides outside of this schedule depends on available Commuter Vanpools .

Service Area

In addition to Veterans Affairs routes outside of Denton County, SPAN generally has widespread coverage of Denton, County. Part of Roanoke is in Tarrant County which SPAN will not reach. Flower Mound coverage is unavailable to the general public. [5]

Ride On is the primary public transportation system in Montgomery County, Maryland. Ride On serves Montgomery County as well as the community of Langley Park in Prince George's County and Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. In fiscal 2018, it operated on a US$112.3 million budget.

San Joaquin Regional Transit District

San Joaquin Regional Transit District is a transit district that provides bus service to the city of Stockton, California and the surrounding communities of Lodi, Ripon, Thornton, French Camp, Lathrop, Manteca, and Tracy. San Joaquin RTD operates 35 fixed routes to the Stockton metropolitan area, including 4 Metro Express routes, RTD’s Bus Rapid Transit service. As of April 29, 2018, RTD has a contract with National Express Transit, whom operates RTD's county services. County services includes six Interregional Commuter routes that serve Sacramento, the East Bay, and the Silicon Valley with subscription service available for commuters. The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) is the transit authority that operates in Denton County, Texas. It operates bus service in three cities within Denton County, as well as the A-train, a regional commuter rail line to Carrollton.

Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority public transit authority in Portage County, Ohio

The Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority, commonly referred to as PARTA, is a transit agency serving Portage County, Ohio. It is headquartered in Franklin Township just outside the Kent city limits. PARTA was formed in 1975 from an agreement between the city of Kent and Franklin Township and has since expanded to include routes over much of Portage County. It operates several local routes including circulator and suburban routes in Kent, and an interurban route connecting Ravenna, Kent, and Stow. PARTA also offers express routes including services into downtown Cleveland and Akron, as well as weekday service to the rural Portage County communities of Windham, Garrettsville and Hiram. Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority (BARTA), previously Berks Area Reading Transportation Authority, is a public transportation system serving the city of Reading and its surrounding area of Berks County, Pennsylvania. The South Central Transit Authority owns BARTA and the Red Rose Transit Authority (RRTA).

A-train (Denton County) commuter rail line in Denton County, Texas, USA

The A-train is a 21-mile (34 km) commuter rail line in Denton County, Texas, United States. It is the third-busiest commuter rail line in Texas and twenty-eighth in the United States. It runs parallel to Interstate 35E between Denton and Carrollton and acts as an extension with the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Green Line at Trinity Mills Station in Carrollton. It is operated by the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) and serves Denton County. It opened on June 20, 2011.

Downtown Denton Transit Center

Euline Brock Downtown Denton Transit Center is a multimodal transit center that provides DCTA bus and A-train commuter rail connections in Denton, Texas. It is east of the Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square and is the northern terminus of the A-train. In 2013, the station was renamed to honor Euline Brock, former mayor of Denton from 2000 to 2006.
