Speed Walton is an American hip hop artist based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Speed gained recognition while using his previous stage name Buggs Tha Rocka During that time he released various underground mix-tapes and projects.
In 2009 Speed released Hip Hop Super Hero in collaboration with DJ Mick Boogie. Speed gained a social media presence and created a fan base which he refers to as “Space Invadaz.” In 2010 he released” Mutant Level 5. The project featured Little Brother, Freeway, Tanya Morgan and others.
In 2011 Speed formed the band Gold Shoes. The band consisted of a diverse group of musicians mostly drawn from Cincinnati. Due to the groups diversity, a influences in the music include jazz, classical, and funk. During this time he also performed solo hip-hop and teamed up with friend and Cincinnati native DJ Clock Work. Together they released the mix-tape Wrath of Zeus which assisted in winning a City Beat Cincinnati Entertainment Award [1] (CEA [2] ) in 2012.
In 2014 he won another Cincinnati Entertainment Award [3] for the release of the project “Scattered thoughts of an American poet”. During that year he was also invited by Talib Kweli to join his Prisoner of Conscious tour. In 2016 Speed signed with Talib’s Javotti Media [4] [5] along with fellow Cincinnati hip-hop -artist Donte of MOOD as the Space Invadaz.
Speed is currently working on projects with Capitol Records [6] and touring on the Talib Kweli Radio Silence tour.

Speed was born in Cincinnati and was brought up in the neighborhood of Corryville. He lived with his grandmother, whom he referred to as "Big Momma", his older brother Jeremy, his mother Tanya, his aunt and five cousins. Speed had a strong relationship with his grandmother who played a critical role in introducing him to music.
Speed’s mother soon relocated to a troubled Cincinnati neighborhood called Northside with his younger brother Noel. He attended Kirby, Schwab, and Chase schools where he earned the nickname Buggs. He would later go on to Aiken High School and collaborate with his friends and classmates Charles Beataholic Reynolds (music producer), Fredrick Mango (A&R), Tawon Arnold (Hip-Hop Artist), and Herm.
Speed credits the music venues Bogart's and Sudsy Malones of Cincinnati as some of childhood musical influences. Speed is a member of the Moorish Science Temple. He is of Moorish descent.
Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, is an American rapper. A prominent figure in conscious hip hop, he is recognized for his use of wordplay and commentary on social and political issues, such as police brutality, American exceptionalism, and the social status of African Americans.
Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star is the debut studio album by American hip hop duo Black Star, composed of rappers Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey. The album was released on September 29, 1998, to critical acclaim. The title is a reference to the Black Star Line, a shipping line founded by Pan-Africanist Marcus Garvey. The album deals with modern-day issues, philosophical ideas, and life in Brooklyn, New York City as the two artists know it.
The Native Tongues were a collective of late 1980s and early 1990s hip-hop artists known for their positive-minded, good-natured Afrocentric lyrics, and for pioneering the use of eclectic sampling and jazz-influenced beats. Tony Louis Cottrell, better known as Hi-Tek, is an American rapper and music producer from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is best known for his work with Talib Kweli. His father is singer Willie Cottrell of the Willie Cottrell Band, whom Hi-Tek featured on his second album, Hi-Teknology 2.
Reflection Eternal is an American hip hop duo composed of emcee Talib Kweli and producer Hi-Tek. They released their first album, Train of Thought, in 2000. They have since released a mixtape, The RE: Union, in late December 2009, and their second album Revolutions Per Minute was released May 18, 2010.

Kweli had previously worked with rapper Mos Def as the duo Black Star, and Hi-Tek had served as producer on the duo's debut album.

Jason Daniel Rawls, better known by his stage name J. Rawls, is an American hip hop musician, producer, disc jockey (DJ), educator, and speaker born in Columbus, Ohio. He is best known for his work with Masta Ace, Mos Def and Talib Kweli. Because of his work with Black Star, a hip hop group composed of Mos Def and Talib Kweli, and their debut studio album, Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star, Rawls soon became an independent hip-hop main-stay. The album became a success and was part of the late 1990s underground hip-hop explosion. Jermaine Anthony Preyan, better known by his stage name Mack Maine, is an American record executive, songwriter, and rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana. He was appointed as the president of hometown native Lil Wayne's record label Young Money Entertainment in 2009, having known the rapper since childhood. Preyan is also known as a co-writer on many of Wayne's singles, including "How to Love", "Got Money", "No Worries" and "It's Good", among others. Furthermore, he has co-written severally for other artists or Wayne's collaborators, often in tandem with record producer Ke'noe; his credits include "Dreams and Nightmares" by Meek Mill and "So Sophisticated" by Rick Ross.
D. (Derick) Prosper began his career as a poet on the NPS National Poetry Slam circuit. He won several regional competitions and featured on the 1994 Providence Poetry Slam Team. D. Prosper was the youngest poet featured on the tour. He ranked fourth in the nation at the NPS finals in Asheville, North Carolina. Prosper was also featured in respected publication Fast Folk Music Magazine. He eventually earned a coveted spot on the 1994 Lollapalooza Tour D. Talib Kweli Greene is an American rapper. He earned recognition through his collaboration with fellow Brooklyn rapper Mos Def in 1997, when they formed the group Black Star. In 2011, Kweli founded his own record label, Javotti Media.
