Production history

The series was first publicized on October 5, 2012, when ABC announced it had ordered a celebrity diving reality competition show straight to series from Eyeworks. Originally titled Celebrity Diving, the show would use the format created for Dutch reality franchise Celebrity Splash! in which celebrities perform regulation springboard and platform dives with different challenges increasing in difficulty each week after training with professional diving instructors between episodes. [4]

In January 2013, the show was renamed Splash and eight of ten celebrity cast members were announced; the final two cast members were named the following month. [5] [6] In March 2013, actor Joey Lawrence and sportscaster Charissa Thompson were announced as hosts. [7]

The shows were filmed in Riverside, California at the Aquatics Complex on the Riverside City College campus. [1]
