Spot is an unincorporated community in Currituck County, North Carolina. [1]
Currituck County is the northeastern-most county in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2010 census, the population was 23,547. Its county seat is Currituck. The county was formed in 1668 as a precinct of Albemarle County and later gained county status in 1739. The name is "traditionally said to be an Indian word for wild geese; Coratank."
A post office called Spot was established in 1928. [2] The community was so named on account of spot fish in waters near the town site. [3]

The Spot or Norfolk spot is a small short-lived saltwater fish in the family Sciaenidae. The species inhabits estuary and coastal waters from Massachusetts to Texas, and derives its name from the prominent dark spot behind each gill. It is the only species in the genus Leiostomus. Spot are frequently caught by recreational anglers and are good to eat.

Bridgeport Speedway is a dirt speedway located in the community of Bridgeport in Logan Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey, that consists of a 0.625-mile (1.006 km) high-banked oval and a 0.375-mile (0.604 km) oval located within the bigger track. The speedway features big block modified stock cars, crate/sportsman stock cars, and outlaw stocks every Saturday night throughout the racing season. In addition, sprint cars race at Bridgeport Speedway on various dates during the racing season. Bridgeport Speedway features other racing divisions including slingshots, mod lites, stage-1 mods, and vintage cars.
Campville is a community in eastern Alachua County, Florida, north of Hawthorne. The community grew up along the route of the Florida Transit and Peninsular Railroad, with a sawmill, a store, a church, a school and a score of homes in the area when a post office was established in 1881. It was named for three brothers by the name of Camp who ran a large sawmill in the area. The population was about 300 in 1928, when a brick factory, several tree nurseries, and four stores were located in the community. The brick factory was also founded by the Camp brothers and bricks produced there can be seen in Gainesville's old downtown buildings. The bricks are a tan buff color.
