The Singhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground is one of the most famous cricket grounds in Sri Lanka, and the headquarters of Sri Lanka Cricket, the controlling body of cricket in Sri Lanka. The ground is sometimes described as "the Lord's of Sri Lanka", It hosts the most domestic finals and is an important international cricket venue. The R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium(RPS) is a cricket stadium on Khettarama Road, Maligawatta, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The stadium was, before June 1994, known as the Khettarama Cricket Stadium and is today one of the main venues where the Sri Lankan cricket team play, having hosted more than 100 one day international matches. It is the largest stadium in Sri Lanka with a capacity of 35,000 spectators. It has hosted the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 finals between Sri Lanka and West Indies, 2002 ICC Champions Trophy finals between Sri Lanka and India and first semi final of the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup between Sri Lanka and New Zealand. This was where the highest Test score in the history was recorded; 952 by Sri Lanka against India. With capacity exceeding Lord's in England, the stadium is known as the "home of Sri Lankan cricket".
Pakiasothy Saravanamuttu StadiumColombo Oval or P. Sara or simply PSS is a multi-purpose stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is currently used mostly for cricket matches. The stadium holds 15,000 and hosted its first Test match in 1982. It is named after Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu, a former civil servant and first President of the Board of Control for Cricket. The venue is the home ground of the Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club. The P.Sara Oval hosts one Test match per year in Sri Lanka's summer Test calendar, but lost out to Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in 2011 to host Sri Lanka v Australia Tests.

Pakistan also visited Sri Lanka and played a match against the Sri Lankan national cricket team and followed the tour with a series against New Zealand, where both teams played their first ODI.

Balapuwaduge Kusal Gimhan Mendis, known as Kusal Mendis ; born 2 February 1995) is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who plays all forms of the game. He only played sixteen first-class matches before playing for the national side. He usually bats at number three in all formats. In November 2017, he was named the One Day International (ODI) batsman of the year for the 2016–17 season at Sri Lanka Cricket's annual awards.
Dhananjaya Maduranga de Silva, or commonly Dhananjaya de Silva is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer, who plays for Sri Lanka in all formats of the game, and for Tamil Union in domestic cricket. In November 2017, he was named the Test batsman of the year for the 2016–17 season at Sri Lanka Cricket's annual awards.
Downdegedara Asela Sampath Gunaratne, commonly known as Asela Gunaratne is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer, who plays all forms of the game. Gunaratne is an aggressive right-handed batsman who occasionally bowls part-time medium pace. He is currently serving in the Sri Lanka Army as a Warrant officer attached to the 6th Field Regiment, Sri Lanka Artillery. He is a past pupil of Sri Rahula College, Kandy. In November 2017, he won four awards at Sri Lanka Cricket's annual awards ceremony, including two awards for best all-rounder.

They also played a three-day warm-up match ahead of the Test series. In April 2018, Cricket Australia confirmed that the Manuka Oval would host its first ever Test match. Australia won the series 2–0, with Tim Paine winning his first Test series as captain of Australia.
The Australian cricket team toured Sri Lanka in June and July 2022 to play two Tests, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20Is) matches. The Test series formed part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship. Both cricket boards confirmed the fixtures for the tour in March 2022.
