Sri Sathya Sai Sarva Dharma Kendra Daramdin is a multi religion centre built by the followers of the Sathya Sai Baba movement, located in Daramdin, a village in Sikkim, India. [1] It is a major tourist destination in Sikkim.

History

The foundation stone for Sri Sathya Sai Sarva Dharma Kendra Daramdin was laid in December 2002 by chief minister of Sikkim Pawan Kumar Chamling. The land for the religious centre was donated by a number of people mostly by Rizal family, Pradhan family and some part of it was bought for the construction. It was inaugurated by Shri Pawan Kumar Chamling in 2007.

Management

Hundreds of visitors come to visit the center and offer their prayers. Mr K.N Rizal is the caretaker of the center since 2007. Annual events are held at the center by different religious groups.

Misconception

It is often referred to as a Hindu temple, but it is an interfaith centre, for all religions.

The Sathya Sai Baba movement is a new religious movement inspired by South Indian Neo-Hindu guru Sathya Sai Baba who taught the unity of all religions. This means that some of his followers see him as a God. Devotees engage in singing devotional songs called "bhajans" and selfless service (seva). Its official organization is the Sathya Sai Organization. However the Sathya Sai Baba movement extends beyond the organization. An important aspect of the faith of adherents is the miracles attributed to Sathya Sai Baba. The number of adherents is estimated between 6 and 100 million.

The Sri Yantra, Shri Yantra, or Shri Chakra is a form of mystical diagram (yantra) used in the Shri Vidya school of Hinduism. It consists of nine interlocking triangles - four upward ones which represent Shiva, and five downward ones representing Shakti. All these surround the central point, the bindu. These triangles represent the cosmos and the human body. Because of its nine triangles, Shri Yantra is also known as the Navayoni Chakra. When the two-dimensional Shri Yantra is represented in three dimensions, it is called a Mahameru. Mount Meru derives its name from this shape. In addition to Mount Meru, all other yantras derive from the Shri Yantra.
