The St. Bonaventure Bonnies softball team represents St. Bonaventure University in NCAA Division I college softball. The team participates in the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10). The Bonnies are currently led by head coach Mike Threehouse. The team plays its home games at Joyce Field located on the university's campus. [2]

History

Since joining the Atlantic 10 Conference in 1988, the Bonnies have failed to win a regular season championship or a conference tournament championship. By failing to win the latter, they have also failed to qualify for the NCAA Division I softball tournament. The team's best conference finish came in the 2008 season, where the Bonnies finished in second place after going 11–7 in conference play. [3]

The Bonnies have won several awards since joining the A-10. Coach Mike Threehouse was named A-10 Coach of the Year in 2006. [4] Third baseman and pitcher Brianna Bricker was named A-10 Softball Student-Athlete of the Year in 2008. [5]

Larry Sudbrook is a former American baseball coach and player. He served as the baseball coach at St. Bonaventure from 1986 through 2021 season. Under Sudbrook, the St. Bonaventure Bonnies complied as record of 724–814–10 and won or shared two Atlantic 10 Conference East Division titles and the 2004 Atlantic 10 Conference baseball tournament. He played college baseball at Lakeland Community College from 1975 to 1976.

The 2004 Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Championship was held from May 26 through 30 at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Connecticut. It featured the top two regular-season finishers of each six-team division, plus the next two best finishers. Fourth-seeded St. Bonaventure defeated Rhode Island in the title game to win the tournament for the first time, earning the Atlantic 10's automatic bid to the 2004 NCAA tournament.

The 2015–16 St. Bonaventure Bonnies men's basketball team represented St. Bonaventure University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bonnies, led by ninth year head coach Mark Schmidt, played their home games at the Reilly Center and were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 22–9, 14–4 in A-10 play to finish in a three-way tie for the regular season championship. They lost in the quarterfinals of the A-10 tournament to Davidson. While the two other teams who tied with Saint Bonaventure for the A-10 title received at-large bids to the NCAA tournament, the Bonnies were one of the "First Four Out" and instead received a top seed in the National Invitation Tournament where they lost in the first round to Wagner.

Formerly known as the Lightower Conference Classic, the Roc City Hoops Classic is an annual collegiate men's basketball event. The event formerly featured a game played between two Atlantic 10 Conference NCAA Division-I member schools at Blue Cross Arena.

The season began with practices in October 2017, followed by the start of the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. League play began in late December and ended on March 3, 2018.

In a season limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Bonnies finished the season 16–5, 11–4 in A-10 play to win the regular season A-10 championship. They defeated Duquesne, Saint Louis, and VCU to win the A-10 tournament. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 9 seed in the East region. There they lost to LSU in the first round.

The 2021–22 St. Bonaventure Bonnies men's basketball team represented St. Bonaventure University during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bonnies, led by 15th-year head coach Mark Schmidt, played their home games at the Reilly Center in Olean, New York as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 23–10, 12–5 in A-10 play to finish in fourth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the A-10 tournament to Saint Louis. They received an at-large bid to the National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Colorado, Oklahoma, and Virginia to advance to the semifinals. There they lost to Xavier.
